SYNOPSIS
No one has ever looked at Abigail Clarke and thought, 'failure'. With a pretty face, perfect grades through all her 12 years of schooling and an easy-going personality, she has always been meant for great things.
The only problem? Money.
With a single working mother and living in a down and out south-coast council estate, Abi can see her plans for the future quickly dissolving before her very eyes.
How fortuitous, then, when a letter with no return address is slipped under her front door, detailing an offer she quite literally cannot afford to turn down.
The stakes are high, the pay-outs higher. Fortune, fame and every opportunity laid out for her on a silver platter. Losing a little sanity is a meagre price to pay.
It's 2023 and everyday life for people across the world has become almost irreversibly isolated and singular. Rates of poor mental health are skyrocketing beyond what most nations' health care systems can cope with and academic achievement among teenagers is plummeting.
The solution? An experiment to test out a revolutionary new teaching method- peer learning as has never been seen before.Enter the brightest young minds from across the globe, each specialising in their own specfic subject, packed off to a remote boarding school somewhere in rural Scotland. But as the eyes and ears of the media, the world, and the school's billion-dollar backers close in, it's only a matter of time before one of the group cracks. And the fallout will be devastating.
