I placed a few goldfish in the water trough for my horse to keep as bug/algae control and unfortunately one of them didn't make it. His fins were clamping since we got him from PetCo and passed 4 days later so I decided to try and create my first taxidermy piece. My goal is to keep him preserved in the resin, only time will tell if he holds up or not.
I placed small pebbles from the garden at the bottom with two small snail shells, the first layer of resin with one drop of blue then swirled two drops of blue at the top once it got tacky. Once it got thicker I got my fish and gently scraped the extra salt off of him (to dry him out faster) and gently pushed him down into the first layer then poured a clear layer over him and let it cure for 24 hours.
I was told his color might fade so I'm hoping he holds color for a while and I dried him out enough to not rot from the inside... I will be posting updates with how he holds up over time. If this does hold up I plan on doing this again when the rest of my goldfish pass. I dubbed my first piece 1st Captain Sir Burton Guster, after Burton Guster from the TV show Psych.
