I think this scene was shot very well. You could feel the intensity. All the workers tried to prevent the collision with the little window of opportunity they had and it still couldn't prevent the inevitable disaster. The speed with which they responded in preventing the collision was impressive, but not good enough. Even as I watched this scene in the film, it almost convinced me that they were going to prevent the disaster somehow.
