The Rescue

Chapter Eight

Silverdust jumped awake at the sound of her com-link going off. She checked and noticed it was from Soundwave, telling her to meet him at the medbay. She jumped up from the floor and rushed to the medbay, to find that Soundwave was outside, waiting for her.

"Soundwave! You're okay! You had me so worried when you said to come to the medbay, I thought the Autobots had seriously hurt you!" she exclaimed as she hugged him tightly.

Soundwave hesitated before gently wrapping his arms around her. He wished she was worried for his health because she cared for him as more than a friend but he knew better than that. He knew her spark was claimed by Heatwave.

Silverdust stepped away and a bright blue blush appeared on her beautiful faceplate. "Sorry, Sounds... I was just worried."

Soundwave smiled softly before gently taking her servo and leading her into the medbay. When she saw Wavesmasher laying there, she gasped and she looked up at Soundwave. "Is.. is he dead?"

Soundwave shook his helm, and pointed towards the computer that held his vitals. Knockout was diligently working on him and quickly connected the darker red mech to life support.

"What happened to him?!" she exclaimed, even though she knew exactly what happened. She had to pretend though, in case Megatron was looking through the video feed, which was unlikely.

"A blaster shot. Point blank most likely. There is also the slightest trace of dark energon, which makes no sense. The Autobots don't touch the stuff", Knockout explained, a confused look on his faceplate. Silverdust winced.

"Is there anyway I can help, Knockout?" Silverdust asked. Knockout sighed. 

"Not really. You'd just get in the way if you stayed in here", he said. Silverdust nodded, and looked away from the cherry red mech, looking longingly towards mech who lay on the medical berth before looking away.

"Take care of him, KO. He's... a really good friend", she whispered. Knockout nodded absentmindedly, more focused on his work than the two bots that stood by the doors. Soundwave gently led Silverdust out of the medbay. Silverdust followed him dejectedly, worry for her hidden sparkmate taking hold in her spark. She was so caught up in her worry that she completely missed when Soundwave stopped walking, causing her to run into his back. Soundwave merely glanced down at her, before she noticed they were standing in front of a door in the brig.

"You only have a short amount of time before your sire returns. So keep the reunion brief", Soundwave whispered. Silverdust tilted her head in confusion, but moved forward when Soundwave gestured her forward.

She hesitantly moved forward, and as the door opens, she gasped when she saw the familiar orange and white mech.

"Ratchet!" she cried, running forward and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Who the slag are you?!" Ratchet yelped in surprise.

Silverdust backed away, a blue blush crossing her face. "Right. I forgot I've changed in the past five years. I blame my sire... he's been trying to get me to forget about you guys... I can't even mention you guys without getting hurt... I'm glad I've got Soundwave though. He's been a great help."

Ratchet's optics widened in recognition. "Silverdust..." he breathed out in shock. "But, won't your sire hurt you if he sees you here with me?"

Silverdust smiled. "As I said, Soundwave's been a great help. He's keeping watch. He'll alert me when Megatron is coming."

"You don't call him Sire?" Ratchet mused curiously.

"Optimus has always been more of a sire to me than that son of a glitch ever will be", Silverdust muttered darkly. "I can't wait to go home. I want to see Bumblebee. I want to see my family and friends."

Ratchet smiled. "Good to see that you still have that spark. I was worried you would have lost it."

Silverdust smiled painfully. "I did lose it for a bit... but when I saw Heatwave and Chase when you guys stormed the warship... When Soundwave promised to help me escape... it's slowly been coming back."

Ratchet nodded. "So... Soundwave is your... pretend sparkmate?"

Silverdust nodded. "Yeah. He wasn't going to force me to do something I didn't want to, so we've had to pretend to not raise Megatron's suspicions."

Ratchet nodded, and opened his mouth to speak, but Silverdust cut him off. "Oh! I was wondering! How is everyone back at base? I know Heatwave isn't doing so good, but Soundwave was nice enough to bring him back here in his disguise of Wavesmasher and now Knockout is working on healing him."

"Everyone is doing well, Silverdust. Optimus and the rescue bots have been worried about you. Bumblebee as well. Primus, he keeps bugging me if I've found any trace of you."

Silverdust smiled at the thought of her best friend. She opened her mouth to speak, but paused. Ratchet waited for a moment before prompting her to speak.

"How.. how are the Burns' doing? They were caught in a pretty bad explosion..." Silverdust murmured.

Ratchet sighed. "Dani and Cody suffered some pretty serious burns. They're fine now. Graham and Kade made it out mostly unscathed. Chief Burns... didn't make it... I'm sorry, Silver..."

Silverdust shrunk into herself, her voice box refusing to work for a little bit. "I... Poor Cody... And Dani... And Graham and Kade... And poor Chase... Charlie was his partner..."

A knock sounded at the door, causing Silverdust to jump. "Megatron must be on his way down. Whatever he says, Ratchet, do not listen to him! I'll come see you as soon as it is possible for me to!"

Silverdust bolted, not giving Ratchet a chance to respond. She hurried through the doors where Soundwave showed her a live video feed of Megatron talking to Starscream. They were on their way here.

"Go the long way to your room", Soundwave whispered. "I told Megatron I would meet him here." Silverdust nodded, and moved quickly, going the opposite way she normally would have. 

After a few minutes, she reached her room and was about to put in the code when she hesitated. Sighing, she growled to herself.

"Stupid femme, you can't go see Heatwave. Knockout might get suspicious..." Sighing softly, she put in the code and entered her room, merely grabbing a datapad off a shelf and started reading a random book. She would've helped out around the ship, but her father didn't want her doing anything except helping Knockout. But the cherry red mech didn't need her help right then, so she was stuck reading until someone called for her. Which wouldn't be for a few hours...
