LOLA KICKED PIECES of rocks and leaves that laid on the dirt path as she walked slowly along side her sister. she felt almost drained of all the energy she had left. the group they were traveling in was rather small since most of the time they travel in sizeable groups.

"they made you remove your skins?" Alpha questioned just above a whisper as she leaned closer to the two sisters.

"they took it off of us," lydia explained as she dragged her feet against the dirt. "hid it."

"the one who made the trade?" she questioned as she tilted her head to the side, the blonde hair that was attached to the skin, fell from her shoulder.

lydia nodded silently as she looked at the forest floor while lola bit her chapped lips anxiously on what awaited them.

"he was ready to fight to keep you two," alpha recalled as she stared at them expectantly. "why?"

"we acted like we needed his help." lola responded with a slight shrug as she fiddled with the hem of the shirt that henry had given them.

"did he touch you?" alpha questioned as she looked between the two girls.

"no." lydia responded as she shook her head slowly.

"did you tell them about us?" she asked as she squinted her eyes.

"that there are only a few of us," lola answered as alpha glanced at her from behind her decaying mask. "that we hated living like this. we lied to get them to trust us."

"except for one thing," lydia said as she casted a small glance at her sister. "I said they shouldn't cross you."

alpha turned on her heal to stand right in front of them. lydia stopped abruptly making lola almost crash into her back.

"what did you two find out?" she said as she stepped closer, her eyes scanning them closely.

"they have mostly farmland, some supplies," lydia said as she practically cowered from their mothers stare. "their weapons are basic. a few guns but not enough."

"any signs of trade?"

"no," lydia whispered as she looked at the ground. "I don't think, no."

"what else?" she persisted as she stepped closer.

"that's it." lola said as she uncrossed her arms while she shook her head.

"that's it?!" she gritted as she lunged forward making both girls flinch as lola's shoulders tightened. "I broke my own rules comin' to get you two. what do I get in return? excuses. wasted words."

"sorry, alpha." both girls whispered apologetically.

It was silent for a while as alpha stared at the two girls who looked at the forest floor with cautious expressions. lola could feel her heart beating inside her chest at her mothers intense stare.
