The Temple

(Jayden POV)

We've been climbing for a while and I'm exhausted. From traveling here to not having a proper meal, I just want to collapse. The sun is coming up and I've yet to sleep. I really hope we get there soon, or I'm just going to drop

I still don't know what these woman look like. They make sure their shawls are always covering their faces, it's very mysterious and unnerving

'Don't think about it Jayden. These people are who we've been looking for'

'I really hope you're right Twilight cause there's no turning back now'

I slip on a step but I'm caught by Priestess Janes. She's a lot bigger than the others and her strong arms prove it "Thank you" I give a little bow

"You're welcome Jayden" She responds back. She lets me go and we continue to walk "May I ask a question?"

"Of course Jayden" Priestess Honey, the one I think is in charge, answers

"Who did these steps?" The steps are narrow but smooth and blend in perfectly to the cliff face. I would never of guessed they were here if they hadn't of showed me

"These steps have been here as long as the Temple has been. Many millennium ago, a very powerful Priestess created the Temple so supernatural beings such as myself could live and grow in peace with our families" She says

"Could you not live like myself?" I ask curiously

"My kind is very different from what is normal to others. We weren't welcomed by anybody. I think they feared us cause we are so powerful"

"If you don't mind me asking, how so?"

"As you know, when 2 mates from different species meet, their children will only be one or the other. Never do the 2 species mix within a child. If the one who gives birth is a witch, while their mate is a wolf, the child will be a full blooded wolf or a full blooded witch, never the 2 together" She takes a deep breath "My kind is different. My father was a wolf while my mother a witch, I am both"

"Wow" I gasp

"Because we are so different, we are also extremely powerful. A lot stronger and faster than your average shifter and A lot more powerful than your average witch. People feared us growing up. They tried everything to destroy us so we lived in fear. It's very hard to kill one of us but we were scared none-the-less. This Temple was made so we could live freely. Over time, we became more praised than feared. People would come to us to heal old wounds or help mend new ones. We became a place of rest and safety"

"I guess I'm in that category" I sigh

"Indeed you are" Priestess Honey chuckles

"I hope I don't cause you trouble" I tell her

"We like trouble" Priestess Dina giggles. I've noticed she's a youngest one just by her personality

"You're just bored little one" Priestess Willow chuckles. She reminds me of my parents, very protective of all of us

"I don't mean to be" Priestess Dina shrugs "It's just, this is the most exciting thing that's happened in a while. The last fun thing that happened was a travelling orchestra who played the most beautiful music for us"
