Chapter 6 Her Disapperance

Val's POV
I woke up just to notice that Kate is gone. I called out Kate's name without a response. I mumbled to myself wondering where she was. I looked in the bathroom thinking she might be in there but no. I noticed that one of my sky light windows was wide open and the cold air was blowing in. 'At least I figured out what woke me up.' i think to myself. It finally occurred to me to check the time and it was 2 am. "Holy shit it's 2am where the fuck is she and where did she go" I say to no one in particular. I sigh and sit down on my bed contemplating whether or not to stay up or try to sleep when I hear a noise in my kitchen. I called out asking if it was Kate, and after a few seconds of silence I called out again "Hel-" I was cut off by Alice's voice. "Why hello Valentina, or should I say FoxFire." said Alice. At first I was a little startled so while I spoke I had a small stutter but I made sure I corrected that- I mean what am i? Five-year-old? "A-Alice what the fuck you scared me, didnt they teach you not to sneak up on people." I say "Sorry, but let's cut to the chase" she apologized for some reason but i asked "What do you want Alice?". Then she said " I want to cordially invite you to my little tea party" I thought for a minute before responding. "Will it be a party of 2?" She said no and that it was a party of 4. I asked who else would be at the tea party and she said "You silly fox, It's obviously me, you, my dear brother Mouse, and of course the infamous Kate." She said cheerfully. "Kate?" i ask blandly because i knew that Kate would reject an invitation if it had anything with Alice. "Why yes we simply must get the family back together again since you're back in town" she tells me cheerfully. I thought for a second and realized I could use this situation to my advantage. So I tell her "I'll only accept your invitation as long as you never tell Kate I'm Foxfire." "Ah, always about business aren't you" she says. I scoffed and crossed my arms. She realized after a few seconds of silence that i wasn't going to respond and said "Fine, I'll never tell Kate your Foxfire." After she said that I told her "Well then, Shall you see yourself out?" As I pointed to the door she said "Oh Silly me, i forgot to say i wasn't here JUST to invite you to a tea party." I stared at her blankly as if to say 'what the hell do you want now' she responded to my look by saying "I want you- I mean FoxFire to help me with something." As I wondered what the hell kind of job she would want me to do, I said "Depends, I usually work alone" I told her. She snarkily replies saying "Oh, so you're a lone fox". I tensed up and gave her a death glare. The last person who made that joke to me died. I consider it an insult to be honest and I tell her just that "I guess I should tell you I consider that an insult." She raised her hands up as if to say you won and said "Just a Joke". I told her that "The last person who called me that tragically died in a ferocious house fire, along with his wife and kids." She retorted with an 'i said i was sorry'. I Rolled my eyes at her and said "Well then I'm sorry, but i do not want to help you, my dearest Alice" I say while giving her a little curtsy. Then she said something that did spark my interest.... "You'll get to start fires~" With that I perked up, but I didn't forget her last comment, I mean my villain name literally has fire in it. So out of curiosity I asked "What type of fire." Look, I may be a villain who likes fire but I have my own standards for jobs I take. "I need you to light a work building-" I cut Alice off by saying "Nope. There's no excitement in lighting them on fire, they're boring." I'm not gonna lie and tell you it's exciting to me to light a bonfire, but I like it when I see the victims look in their eyes right as the flames engulf them. Look i get it you may be thinking 'Sadistic much' but hey ya girls gotta get something out of it. It's either I have to see the victims die or I have to get away from a 'superhero'. (what i like seeing them fail to catch me. And it's really cute seeing them try to save the people inside the fire) Oh and don't get me started for when I hide in the Shadows and see the look of defeat in their eyes after they hear they were too late and didnt 'bring me to justice'. Then Alice said something that made me interested again. "Not if Batwoman tries to save everybody and catch you". Dammit she knew me too well... I respond by saying "Ugh... But it also depends on how much you're paying me" To be honest that hospital trip did cost a lot of money, and whatever she gave me I can just put in the bank as an 'Anonymous donation' to my company to 'help' get it my new animal rescue 'started'. I already had enough money raised. And What's the harm in a little more money for those cute little creatures? "$1,000,000" I raised my eyebrow at that. Why the hell pay me so much for a simple office building. "And what type of work may the people inside this office building do?" I ask this because that is usually what I would get paid to take down somebody's enemy and make it look like an accident. Usually I don't take the job unless the person has wronged me or someone I know since I usually like to leave a signature behind claiming the fire and victims as my own. That gives me a really good reputation in the vilain world since even when I leave clues for the superhero in a comment I write before I sign my name, unless they know me personally, they won't understand my words. "Gone for 15 but forever loyal -Love, Firefox" That was the clue I left for Superman(yes i use red paint for my signature, why? Because it's fucking cool and it reminds me of fire). And he only knew I was leaving but he didn't know where, so he couldn't call his superhero buddies on me. I also left a map of the places I've been and he must be looking in the places I haven't since he isn't checking good old Gotham. I mean most of my trails are obvious but then again he knows nothing of my past. "Oh you know, just create nuclear weapons that can kill all of us, and they created a gun that can kill Batwoman." When i heard nuclear weapons i said "Nope, dangerous, that building would light up like a bonfire if i just lit a match, and the word nuclear means i would kill the entire city including people i love and ruin my business." she immediately responded with "And that's why i need you to be as sneaky as a fox and take those weapons, disarm the fire system, and light the building. Oh and I forgot to mention that you'll be able to keep the weapons of your choosing." Weapon of my choosing.... That sounded good and the fact I get to steal and light a fire. Perfect actually.... Too perfect. "$1,000,000 sounds good unless i get hurt, then it will cost more. Oh and I want that in cash, paid in person, in full, Before the job" I tell her. Once I did a job for a politician that would help him win the election and he tried to scam me the motherfucker. That's the reason I get paid before and don't accept deposits. As for the politician he sadly died in an explosion caused by a failure in the electrical system that was.... 'Damaged' during a storm. "Fine, The job is to be done Friday" Alice tells me. "Alright, it seems like we have a deal" I reach out my hand and we shake hands. "What time, and where?" I ask. "6 pm, 2 hours before those pitiful workers have a shift change and the name of the place is Hamilton Dynamics" She says. "Woah,Woah,Woah. That's Kate's step-mothers business." I immediately responded.  "And that's why you're getting paid so much. Also they have Crow security, and we both know how good of a hacker you are."I smirked a bit when she said that thinking of some old memories.  So i guess i should let you know that yes, I also hack, I learned it from a master in London since we mostly did jewel thefts and my job was to disable the cameras. What can i say i'm a jack of all traits, you need me to do it i probably can. This also sounds like a challenge. "Sounds like a deal" I say, "We'll make plans later but for now, we need to make it look like I attacked you" she tells me. I looked confused and she cut me off when I said "why-" "Kate's going to be back soon so~" She then proceed to royally fuck up my living room throwing stuff everywhere, breaking a lamp, and knocking some (probably expensive) painting onto the ground. I was about to yell at her for making my living room look like a battle from World War III,when she pulled out her butterfly knife and said "Let's make this convincing shall we?" I simply nodded knowing the story would be more convincing. And I took the small dagger I kept in my hoodie pocket (don't worry it has a case so I don't stab me or anyone else in my sleep) I took off the cover and cut up my clothes and made a few cuts to make it look like I fought back. "Well where is sh-" I got cut off my Alice pulled me into a choke hold with her knife lightly pressing against my neck then she whispered into my ear "Make it convincing" And Kate walked into my apartment quietly. Alice still holding me said "Well, Well, Well" Kate turned around quickly "Look who finally graced us with her presence". I watched as Kate tensed as Alice smirked. "Alice, what are you doing? Let her go."
