Jeffrey
"Jeffrey, here are the files for the Boston Weepy-Voiced Killer. His name was David Horowitz. He has been on the Most Wanted list for the past five years for stabbing 25-30 female victims and one of his victims, Gabby Reynolds from the recent attack that took place in the apartment she shares with her roommate in Chelsea, miraculously survived the attack." Chief Fennell hands me the files of the Boston Weepy-Voiced Killer crime.
"Thank the Lord," I praise.
"Yes and I couldn't agree with you more." Chief Fennell concurs. I take a gander at the perpetrator's criminal records and I am astonished-- his record is as long as the list of groceries on the first day of each month! Grand theft auto, arson, kidnapping, assault and battery, first and second degree murder, along with first degree of attempted murder. He could also face either the death penalty or a life sentence." Chief Fennell says.
"I sure hope the results is the death penalty, so that he will never harm a woman ever again." I anticipate and take a quick sip of coffee I picked up on my way to work from Dunkin' Donuts.
"Most certainly. His trial will take place in the eighth of next month and I hope he gets the death penalty as well." Chief Fennell agrees.
'And on the day of his trial, please make sure you send me the files regarding to the case."
"No problem, Chief." I nod comprehensively just as I place the folder containing the files gingerly in the top drawer.
"And another thing, Mr. Dallas; Marianne is investigating the crime along with Detective Cooper. Phoebe will analyze the fingerprints to substantiate the fingerprints that identify the suspect. I need you to update the data files along with the documents of the David Horowitz case while Sondra is providing emotional support to Ms. Reynolds in her office."
"Yes, sir."
Chief Fennell departs my office with him shutting the door and I begin getting to work on the desktop computer to update the documents as well as the data entries.
Fifteen minutes later...
I finish the last data entry when I hear a light, yet noticeable knock on the door of my office.
"Who is it?" I query.
"It's Sondra!"
I sit up in my seat and run my hand over my hair in a frisson.
"You can come in!" The door opens slightly with Sondra poking her head through the door with a benign grin approaching on her face.
"Hey, Jeffrey. I thought I could invite you to get a bite to eat from Chipotle." Sondra offers.
"Sure." I give her a smile as I lean back with my arms crossing behind my head. "I was just finishing the last data entry of the Gabby Reynolds case." I tell her.
"Okay," she nods comprehensively. I turn off my computer and grab the keys from my desk before exiting my office with my hand holding the door for Sondra when I inhale this pleasant sweet and fruity aroma that smells of nectarines. Her fragrance sure smells divine.
"Thank you," Sondra smiles.
"You're welcome." I close the door and we remind Chief Fennell that we are heading out to Chipotle. He asks both Sondra and I to bring back a salad for him. And we agree prior to departing from the police department.
"Which car should we ride in?" Sondra asks. My eyes shift from one side to another as we are standing on the pavement that leads us to the parking lot.
"What does your car look like?" I inquiry.
"My car is a 2019 Kia Optima in the shade of midnight," Sondra answers.
"Mine is a slate 2019 Land Rover." I reply. "Okay, we'll take your car."
"That's fine with me." Sondra chuckles humorously. We approach towards her Kia when she unlocks all of the doors from her keys. I open the door for her to slide in her seat and she gives me a benign grin. "Thank you."
"It's no problem," I return with a kind smile before I walk around the car to sit in the passenger seat along with Sondra and I pulling our seatbelts over our torsos prior to driving off to Chipotle. By the time we approach our destination, Sondra and I drive around the restaurant to take our orders from the drive-thru prior driving back to the police department.
Sondra and I make our way back to the department and we decide to have our lunch in her office.
"How are you liking Boston so far?" Sondra queries while she is eating her burrito.
"I like it immensely. Several neighbors are friendly and the neighborhood has exceedingly beautiful houses. This morning, Miss Patty gave me a plate of chocolate chip cookies just before I went to work."
"Miss Patty from Kirk Street? I love her and she's such a sweetheart!" Sondra grins fondly.
"Such a sweet lady." I concur. "Yesterday, the girls and I had a great discussion about what I would make for dinner tonight. Anna told me that Marie Skye recommended a place called Wings n' Waffles, is that what the restaurant is called?"
"Mhm," Sondra nods. "The kids and I began going there just three months after Yamini was born. The restaurant was opened in October of '06 and on birthdays, they give their customers a free meal or a gift card." I nod intriguingly as I would like to take that offer. I will most definitely thank Sondra for recommending great places here in Boston.
**********
"Mm!" Anna exclaims with a tone of satisfaction after she just takes a bite of the chicken sandwiched between two golden brown pancakes that is dipped in syrup on her plate. "Dad, I'm in love with this food! Can we have this for dinner next time?"
"It seems you girls like it, so I might as well serve chicken and pancakes on every Tuesdays."
"Dad, can you?" Sophie's eyes and her mouth grow big with anticipation like a parent telling a child that they have the latest CD from their favorite artist.
"Not every single day. However; once a week." I smile. Rather than eating the chicken, Sophie is enjoying her oven fried cauliflower as well as her pancakes. I ought to give Wings n' Waffles a rating of 10/10 for its inclusion of vegan chicken and pancakes along with the oven fried cauliflowers in the vegetarian version.
