Date Gone Wrong

ᴥ︎︎︎

Chase has never felt so nervous in his life before. The silence between both Chase and Rocky was killing the German Shepherd. He wanted to say something so bad but every time he opened his muzzle to speak nothing came out.

Rocky on the other hand didn't mind the awkward silence, although he felt it was a tad strange the German Shepherd didn't try to engage a conversation of some sort. Chase was usually outgoing and was decently talkative, but Marshall on the other hand... or well paw... was the most talkative out of all the pups. He could talk your ear off for hours. Maybe that's where Chase got his outgoing personality from? From hanging out with Marshall, which actually makes quite a bit of sense considering Chase used to be very shy when the paw patrol first started out, according to the stories Ryder would tell us.

Rocky was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't even realize Chase calling out to him.

"Rocky? Earth to Rocky."

The Mixed Breed snapped back into reality and looked up at Chase, who was holding out a necklace with a blue rock.

"A nice man was selling these by the shore and I thought you might like one. I got blue for you and green for me!" Chase unclipped the necklace and clipped it on around Rocky's neck.

Rocky's breath hitched and he felt his heart skip a beat as Chase clipped the necklace around his neck. The close proximity of the two made both their hearts jump. Rocky could feel the German Shepherd's breath on his neck. He wanted to kiss him so bad but he knew that would cause even more problems, problems that he didn't need.

Chase pulled away and slipped on his own green necklace.

"Rocky... I know you probably don't feel the same, but I need to get this off my chest," Chase paused and looked up at Rocky.

"But I am in love with you Rocky."

Rocky could only sit there as Chase waited patiently waiting for an answer.

"I... Why. Why! Why me of all pups!" Rocky could feel tears welling up in his eyes as he yelled.

"I don't know?! It just happened!"

Tears started pooling out of Rocky's eyes that he desperately tried to wipe away.

"NO! YOUR LYING! YOU DON'T LOVE ME!" Rocky kept trying to remind himself of what his parents told him repeatedly when he was younger.

Chase, despite being hurt by Rocky's rejection to Chase's love, hugged the Mixed breed as the both of them cried their hearts out, both for different reasons.

Chase, albeit heartbroken from what he thought was a rejection, laid all his focus on the crying pup in his arms.

"Why do you love me?" You could hear the desperation in his voice as the words left his muzzle.

Chase smiled sadly and lifted the Mixed Breed's head up with his paw, "Because you're Rocky, you're the smartest, funniest pup I know!" Chase took that moment to finally kiss the pup in front of him.

He held that kiss only for a few seconds but to Rocky it felt like an eternity, one he didn't want to end, but was disappointed when it did.

"Rocky, will you be my boyfriend?" Chase asked again in hopes that Rocky would accept after that kiss.

Rocky actually smiled at Chase's question. He wanted to accept but he knew that he wasn't in the right headspace.

"It's not a No, it's a Not Now." Chase's smile dropped but it slowly made its way back to his muzzle as he realized that Rocky would eventually be his.

"It's a tad disappointing but I'll stay strong, for you."

Rocky smiled and gave Chase a gentle kiss.

"Lets head back, shall we?"
