she sees in colour the shades of black

a room flooded in night, the knife still in her back

she sees in colour the shifting scales of grey

the heavy smoke in the air as she kneels to pray

she sees in colour the blossoming white moon

filtered through the curtains, cold fingers still on the phone

she sees in colour the silver drops of rain

counting the tears from heaven with a bottle to drown the pain

she sees in colour the fiery star crowned skies

shimmering shards of brilliance like the shine in her wet eyes

she sees in colour the shadows on the ceiling

dancing to the throb of her heart that seeks healing

she sees in colour her skin slowly turning blue

in the embracing arms of winter, her shivering breath askew

she sees in colour her broken self in the mirror

blinking in the dim light but the picture gets no clearer

she sees in colour the clothes thrown on the bed

she calls it the end as her closed eyes dream in red
