marquis is my unproblematic baby!! he is a war hero, so huge bonus for me, he was an abolitionist (which in his time was taboo) and he never once held any slaves! i swear, he'd fit right in today.
the funny thing about marquis is that he fought in over 100 battles and never once died. you know what he died of? complications due to pneumonia. i mean, that's kinda a sad way to die, lol. you fight in over 100 battles and what gets you? water in your lungs. but i would also be very disappointed if he died in war too. that wouldn't make him the invincible man i know today. i hope y'all stan him like i do
