* Jesse *
The first day at my new school wasn't that bad.
It wasn't that great either.
I was too distracted to pay attention in any class, my mind wouldn't allow any thoughts in unless they were of Catherine.
And that pissed me off.
I was always in control, in charge. I didn't like feeling so out of whack, especially when the cause of my problems was a girl I barely knew.
'A fucking incredibly gorgeous girl' my mind told me as images of her uncovered chest flashed before me. I had to push those thoughts aside real quick, I didn't want to be known as the guy who got a boner in History class.
'Yeah that'd make a real great first impression' I scoffed silently as I adjusted myself under the desk.
At lunch I didn't really talk to anyone, I sort of just sat off to the side, sizing up the situation before me.
I could easily distinguish the different groups amongst the students. You had the skater punks hanging over by the shed looking angry at the world, the bookworms heading towards the library and the skanks drooling over the football team by the field.
I watched on in disgust as one of the skanks bent over to pick up her bag, showing off her basically non existent underwear.
'Keep it classy Oxbury' I muttered under my breath as I turned my attention to the actual football players sitting on the bench.
It didn't take a genius to work out the pecking order. It was obvious that the tall, well built guy with the brown hair was the leader by the way he commanded the attention of anyone who was close by.
He also appeared to be the school heart throb judging by the amount of girls I've seen giggle and blush if he threw even just a brief glance their way.
'Pathetic' I huffed as I rolled my eyes.
Stupid fucking high school drama.
The normal thing to do would be to go over and introduce myself, but I wasn't going to do that, not today. What I really wanted to do was get a good idea of the teams dynamic before involving myself.
With that plan in mind I continued to sit back and watch from a distance, haphazardly playing with my phone, wishing I'd gotten Catherine's number so at least I could see how she was doing.
I know what you're thinking, it was only this morning she basically told me to piss off, but that wasn't going to stop me.
So far she seemed to be the only 'real' person I'd met in this town and I wasn't about to let that go without getting to know her better.
The school bell chimed after awhile and all the students hustled to their final classes of the day, I was so focused on trying to find the right building I almost didn't feel the gentle thump hit my chest.
I looked down to see a tiny little red head gathering up her things while quietly mumbling an apology.
'What the fuck is it with girls running into me this week' I thought to myself, trying not to get angry with the delay, I mean after all it was really my fault.
I stood for a good minute or two contemplating whether I should help the red head or just continue on my way.
'Ahh fuck it' I groaned, my conscience getting the better of me as I bent down to help her.
'I'm really, really sorry. Like really, I didn't mean...' her tiny voice whispered.
'Stop apologising' I interrupted, my tone harsher then I intended.
The gruffness of my voice must have scared the poor thing as I heard a tiny little squeak escape from her lips.
'Sorry...' I mumbled as I picked up the last of her books and handed them to her.
It was then that she finally looked up at me, her curly red hair framed her delicate, porcelain face. Hundreds of tiny freckles dotted her little button nose as she just stared at me with big blue doe eyes.
She was pretty, in a simple kind of way, but something seemed a little weird about her.
'Ohh emmm geee!!' she squealed.
'Excuse me' I uttered completely confused, although the weird vibe was starting to make sense.
'Like you literally spoke to me. Like actual words. And you are hot! No no no you are way hotter then just hot' she babbled on.
Yep definitely more then just a little weird.
I tried to excuse myself as politely as I could but the crazy red head was proving to be a challenge.
Sucking in a deep breath I tried to keep myself calm as I tried once more to step around her, instead she continued to block my path, babbling incessantly.
It was my first day here, I was already on a tight leash and the last thing I wanted to do was be late for class and run the risk of Coach hearing about it.
'Would you please just fuck off!' I growled impatiently, unable to keep my anger in check any longer as I stomped past her surprised face.
In the end I was only a few minutes late for class but thankfully the teacher just put it down to 'the new kid got lost'.
The rest of the afternoon dragged on, I was getting impatient and I desperately wanted out. It was a rare occasion that I actually spent a full day at school, usually opting to skip the classes that I hated the most, but this time was different.
My scholarship and potential future depended on me being on my best behaviour and as much as I loathed the idea of falling into line, I was going to suck it up and do whatever I needed to do to get through the year.
After the final school bell rang I practically sprinted to my car, jumping in and pulling out of the parking lot with the intention of seeing Catherine again.
I know she wasn't expected me, it's not like we had prearranged to meet up or anything, but fuck it. I wanted to see her and I always get what I want.
