why did it take me this long to realize
that the world we built together
was never meant to thrive.
when i was the only one
spending time building it,
you were waiting till it tipped.
and that's when the rivers ran dry,
& all the birds departed the sky,
and when all the flowers took their last breaths
& and the deepest oceans lost their depths.
and that's when i had to say goodbye
to the perfect world i built for you and i.
