The night Wyatt Best came into Nowhere, the stars that shivered up above held their breath and leaned in closer to the earth just to see what would happen.

The town itself seemed to take in a quick inhale when Wyatt's Cadillac stalled just past the welcome sign.

The ghosts, too, paused in their groanings to lend an ear to whatever it was that prickled their subconscious.

The town of Nowhere was no stranger to coincidences. The ghosts themselves were the result of many different types of them.

But on the night Wyatt Best showed up, there was the distinct taste of magic in the air that had never before penetrated through the scent of peach trees and cotton farms, homecooked pies and oiled machinery.

It was something vastly different and vastly ancient.

It wasn't that Wyatt was especially friendly or even that Nowhere took a liking to him. It was that there were two coincidences appearing in Nowhere at the same time.

The first had to do with a forest.

The second had to do with the boy that would destroy it.
