it was just the two of them now, kai and chaewon. yeona was showering and they were both sat on his bed in silence, both of them not really knowing what to say. a few glances were shared, followed by a smile which was covered up by looking away.
"thanks for helping us," chaewon spoke, breaking the silence as she couldn't take the awkwardness anymore.
"of course...anything you need. anything at all. i'll always be here for you, chaewon. and your family,"
kai had always said he'd be there for chaewon. but this time it felt different, she couldn't quite explain it. without realising it, the two of them were extremely close now, and they were leaning in closer and closer.
just as they were about to kiss, chaewon stopped kai with her fingers putting them over his lips. "kai..." she spoke, making him open his eyes. "i like you,"
kai took her hands away and smiled, leaning in closer and kissing her lips softly. they both pulled away, smiling to each other. "i like you too, chaewon. so much,"
...
it was time for them to go home and yeona was washed and wearing some joggers and a t shirt from lea. she left her clothes at kai's house as lea promised to wash them for her. and it was time for chaewon to introduce kai to the rest of her family.
"where have you been, yeona? we were worried sick! you said you'd be an hour, now it's - wait, who's clothes are they?" lexie said, hugging her daughter before noticing the change in clothing.
"it's a long story," chaewon spoke.
"oh, hello," lexie said, noticing the unfamiliar boy next to the two girls.
"annyeonghaseyo, my name is kai," he said, bowing.
"oh, you're korean?! annyeonghaseyo, nice to meet you!" lexie said, smiling.
"dad...this is kai," chaewon said, grabbing his arm as he put his arm around her shoulder when they noticed chanhee coming into the hallway. "my boyfriend,"
chanhee eyed them for a moment before nodding. "nice to meet you," he said, smiling. "i've heard great things about you,"
kai bowed and smiled to him as chaewon released a breath she didn't know she was holding. meanwhile yeona smiled to them from the side, knowing that kai was the right boy for her amazing older sister.
"would you like to stay for dinner?" lexie said.
"perhaps another time, but thank you for the offer...i should really get home to my sisters. it was nice meeting you, mr and mrs choi,"
"please, call us chanhee and lexie! it was very nice meeting you too, kai." lexie said as chaewon walked kai to the front of the house and out of the door.
"i'll text you later, ok?" kai said, taking her hand as she stood on the step of her front door and he stood on the tarmac below.
"ok...um, thank you...for everything," chaewon said. kai smiled and waved goodbye but chaewon couldn't help but feel like she needed to tell him.
"kai," she called out, making him turn around. "i love you,"
he immediately ran back up the driveway as the butterflies in her stomach began to grow by each second. he kissed her passionately, hugging her afterwards. "i love you too, chaewon,"
