Nathan:
I woke up to an empty bed the next morning. I distinctly remember Tori being there with me. The smell of her still lingered on the pillow beside me as I rolled onto my stomach, stretching out in the empty space. In the silence of the early morning I heard giggling, it was easily recognizable. I recognized Tori’s laugh, followed by Jess’s. It was close, yet far at the same time. After a few minutes of just listening to the laughing, I finally managed to pull myself out of bed, put on some pants and go downstairs. Mum was making breakfast. It felt nice to eat mum’s cooking again. Sure, Tori was an ace chef in London, but nothing’s ever as satisfying as your own mother’s food.
“Morning, love” mum smiled, cooking up breakfast in the kitchen.
“Morning” I grumbled, rubbing my eyes sleepily.
“I was beginning to wonder when you’d wake up… your girlfriend’s an early riser” she smirked as I sat at the table.
“Where is she?” I questioned.
“Jess has been keeping her company outside” she replied, nodding towards the window.
I slowly got up and walked to the door that led to the backyard. Tori and Jess were outside. Jess had her laptop sitting on the small table outside and seemed to be copying movements Tori was making,
“What are they doing?” I asked.
“I think Tori’s teaching Jess a new dance or something” mum shrugged.
I nodded, sitting back at the table.
“She’s a very nice girl, Nathan” she said while still continuing to cook “when are you two planning on getting married?” she asked quietly.
I coughed, choking on my own saliva.
“What?” I asked with wide eyes.
“You think I wouldn’t notice those rings you two wear around your necks?” she smirked at me.
“Well… I- we-… the thing is- it just…” I stammered, lost for words.
“Relax, Nathan, there’s no rush. You’re obviously very happy with her and where you're at” she chuckled.
I just nodded with a nervous grin.
The girls came in laughing when mum called that breakfast was ready. Jess went to put her laptop up before joining us downstairs,
“Morning” I smirked, pulling Tori close to me, holding her in my arms.
“Morning” she chuckled, gently pecking my lips.
“You and Jess seem to be getting along” I commented, pressing our foreheads against each other.
She nodded.
“She’s really cool and so much like you” she chuckled, her fingers playing with the ends of my messy hair.
“Usually I would find it weird that my girlfriend and my sister are mates, but… I’ll make an acceptation for you” I winked as we sat at the table.
Mum set the plates in front of us and we tucked in when Jess came back downstairs.
“So, what’s on the agenda today?” mum asked while we were eating.
“Tell them” Jess beamed excitedly across the table at Tori.
“Well… Jess asked if I could give a lesson to her dance class today and I said sure, so… we’ll be going to her studio after breakfast” she shrugged.
