Chapter 4

I repeatedly asked Dimitri if it was seriously okay if i stayed with him even though i didn't no him, he told me time and time again that it was fine and he was happy to help. I didn't no this man and he was kind enough to offer me a room for me to sleep in so i didn't have to go back to Jesse. For the few months that Jesse had beaten me i had lost faith in men, he made me believe that they were all the same, Dimitri was giving me hope. Hope that i could leave Jesse and find a nice man that will take care of me instead of hitting and abusing me.

"Are you positive?" I asked as we pulled outside his apartment, i knew his answer but i just wanted to make sure.

"Rose, I'm sure, i wouldn't have offered if i didn't want you in my house." I bit my bottom lip and nodded, he was right, why would he offer if he wasn't sure, i was just being paranoid. I opened the car door and got out, holding my bag close to my side. "Right okay, its getting late so i'll show you the room and then you can get settled in. Have you eaten?" I shook my head

"No. But its fine, don't worry about me." Dimitri frowned, we started waking towards his apartment.

"You need food, Rose. I'll call a takeout or something." I nodded and looked in my purse to see if i had any money on me, luckily i did.

"I have money, you call ill pay." Dimitri chuckled

"As if I'm going to let you pay." I sighed

"I have to, it can be my way of saying thank you" Dimitri shook his head and opened the door to his apartment, inside was actually quite nice for a man who lived on his own, it was kept tidy and everything had a place, i was actually quite suprised that a man lived here. That makes me sound sexist but its true!

"No i want to pay, you dont owe me anything."

"Can i at least pay half?" He continued to shake his head "please" he huffed

"Your not gonna give up are you?" I smirked, he had finally realised that i wasn't going to stop asking until i had my way.

"Definitely not" Dimitri smiled and shook his head "Its one of the best things about me i never give u-" My sentence was cut off by the ringing of my phone, i opened my bag and got out my phone, as soon as i read the name displayed on the screen i felt like crying again.

Jesse.

I must of froze or something because Dimitri caught on to my weird behaviour "Is it him?" He asked, i nodded my head, i didn't trust my voice not to brake i was that scared "Don't answer it, just ignore it." I shook my head

"What if he finds me, he'll be angry at me for not picking up." Dimitri took the phone off me and put it on a shelf high up where i couldn't reach

"He isn't going to find you, i'll make sure of that" i was shocked at his words, i was talking to a guy who barely knew me an hour and he was already promising to protect me.

"How can you say that?" I asked "you haven't even known me a whole day and your already promising to protect me?" Dimitri smiled

"Because im a cop, i tend to over help people" I laughed

"Well thanks but i think my friend will be back tomorrow so i can stay there for a bit" Dimitri nodded

"Thats good. But if you need any longer here then you are more than welcome to stay in the spare room for as long as you need" I smiled thankfully at Dimitri

"You really are sweet!" A small blush spread across Dimitri's cheeks and he looked down at the floor to try and hide it. "so which room am i staying in?" I asked to try and change the conversation.

"Ill show you" Dimitri started walking "follow me" He lead me through the corridor and down the hallway stopping at a door "this one is where your staying and I'm just next door so knock if you need me" I smiled and opened the door

"Thanks again Dimitri." I walked into the room shutting the door behind me. I truly was grateful for what Dimitri was doing for me, if i had gone home with Jesse i have no idea what would of happened to me, and for that i will always be grateful.
