Nini POV
And suddenly it's Monday. The weekend feels like it flies by, but in reality, my inability to think about anything other than my dad was probably speeding time up considerably. In hopes to think about anything else, I decide to bike over to Ricky's house after I get dressed. He had been answering my texts with short messages all morning and I figured if something was bothering him, it'd be best to show up before he could get too deep into his thoughts.
"Hey there baby... whatcha up to?" I giggle when I make my way into Ricky's bedroom. He was shirtless, laying across his floor with glue sticks, a scrapbook, and construction paper littering the space around him. His tongue was sticking out as he pasted things and slapped pictures together and I couldn't help but continue to smile at how adorable he looked, almost childish really. "Hey babe." He grins, looking up at me before returning to his work. My smile continues to grow and I take a seat next to him, throwing my bag onto the ground. "I... am making something." He says proudly and I laugh, rubbing his back gently. He looks up into my eyes and they sparkle, before he looks at his work. "It's a scrapbook for my mom. I figured, I don't really give her enough credit for trying, y'know? She's coming all the way out here and I missed her a lot." He says and I nod, rubbing circles into the back of his neck. "I love that, it's great Ricky." He grins proudly and thanks me. "Yeah honestly, the whole situation with your dad got me thinking that I'm really lucky. I hope that doesn't sound terrible." I shake my head and begin playing with his curls. "Not at all, it makes sense. The two people who created you are here.... trying to make an effort." I shrug and Ricky nods, rolling onto his back and taking a deep breath. "It's also not fair that I'm assuming she's bringing hell into my life. She might just want to see me, tell me about a promotion or something." I laugh and give him an encouraging smile. "That's the dream isn't it." He laughs and agrees. I think about whether or not that's why my dad wants to be a part of my life. Maybe not to bring hell, but to just connect... because he was my biological dad. I trace my fingers up and down Ricky's chest mindlessly as I lose myself in my thoughts and the "what ifs" and I'm completely oblivious to Ricky watching me. "What are you thinking about beautiful?" I blush and pull myself out of my thoughts. "How much I want that with my dad." I admit and Ricky nods, reaching up to tuck my hair behind my ears. "You'll see what he has to say when he responds to your letter, and maybe you'll get that. If that's something you really want." I nod absentmindedly and Ricky places a hand on my thigh. "I've got an idea. How about we go drive today?" I smile down at him and shrug. "Sure, where to?" He shakes his head and smirks, sitting up and placing his hands on my waist. "How about to the school, where we can practice paralleling parking." My eyes widen and I shake my head frantically. "What? Hell no? Are you insane, did you eat some Elmer's glue?" Ricky tosses his head back as he laughs loudly and he shakes his head. "Maybe I did, and I might be insane. But we're gonna do some parking." He places a kiss on my lips and I desperately want to fight him, but deep down, I wanted my license and parking with Ricky over my moms was something I'd take any day.
"Baby, baby for the love of god. If you keep flipping out you'll never get the car into the spot." Ricky says as I fail parallel parking for the twelfth time in a row. I was hitting the front cones repeatedly, and even if I did make it into the general area, I'd just hit the curb. I groan and stop the car, midway into the parking spot. "I can't do it." I cry in frustration and Ricky places a hand on my thigh. "Come on Nins, that's not true at all. You're just overthinking it. You're in control of the car baby, it'll do what you want if you know what you're doing. Talk through it for me before you try again." I huff, but nod and pull out of the spot, parallel to the cones. "Alright. I cut the wheel all the way to the right when the cones hit the halfway point on the car. Then I guide the car in until all three cones disappear in my rear view mirror, then I turn my wheel all the way to the left and finish the job." I say and Ricky smiles, squeezing my thigh. "See baby, you know exactly what you're doing. You can do this. Just do what you know." I nod and close my eyes, placing my hands back on the wheel. "There's no time limit." He reminds me with a final nod and I sigh. "Okay." I say, and I ignore everything, except for what I know. Before I know it, I'm guiding the car into the space perfectly and I hear Ricky's gentle praise as I turn the wheel and I get the vehicle in perfectly. I squeal as I put the car into park. "I did it Ricky! Oh my god I did it! I did it!" I squeal again and Ricky grins, massaging my shoulder as he leans close to me to press a kiss to my cheek. "I knew you could love. I just knew it. Fuck you did amazing. Let's do it again."
After a half hour more, Ricky had me parking like a pro.
