I walked across town slowly, my steps more than hesitant. I didn't want to face my team again after what happened yesterday. I almost gave up. How could I be so selfish? My shame was eating at me but I wouldn't let it stop me. Just like they saved me, I wanted to be able to save them. Now I had a purpose that I truly believed in. Protect those I love with all I can. That's my nindo. The gates came into view and so did my teammates. Determination made its way into my eyes and I walked over to them. They looked at me and I smiled a little, not able to help it. This is going to be a long way to the land of waves.

Sakura was walking ahead with Tazuna with Kakashi, Sasuke and Naruto behind her. I fell back behind them going through my plan for the grass ninja. Ok I hope I packed everything. I have the chakra pills, the extra headband and the wire bracelets. I hope it's enough. Now to see how much time we have left. "guys can you wait for a second." They stopped and looked back at me as I jumped onto the nearest tree. I could see the sun reflect on something just up ahead. Ok I guess I better start now. I jumped back down and was met with multiple curious looks. "what were you doing?" Kakashi asked. That was the first time he talked to me today. "I was checking if I could see the ocean yet." I said with a childish smile. they all rolled their eyes at me and turned around ready to start walking again. "Wait up Naruto." He turned to me, curiously. Can you hold onto this for me please?" I asked taking my headband off. His eyes widened. "I need someone I trust to look after it for a second." He nodded at me with a bright smile. I then tied the headband around his hand, with the metal protecting his palm. "I'll take good care of it. Believe it!" I giggled at his catchphrase and we ran to catch up with the others. A minute or so passed before the puddle appeared. My eyes hardened, ready to jump at any possible time. We passed the puddle and I heard a faint metallic sound. I jumped up into the trees and hid my chakra as much as I could. I watched the battle unfold just like it did in the show growing a slight smirk as I saw the scratch on my headband. Once I saw that Kakashi had tied them up, I jumped back down out of the trees. He looked at me confused and almost angry. "Elle, hiding in the trees during a battle is not something you should be doing. Your comrades could've gotten hurt. You could've put their safety on the line." I looked at him my smirk getting replaced with a glare. "Kakashi, you and I both know that I am not strong enough to hold out in a battle. Until I get stronger, frankly, I'm just a burden. Besides, I can help more in the shadows so don't you dare accuse me of putting my comrades at risk." I looked away from him, not feeling like seeing his disappointed look.

Kakashi was talking to Tazuna, and I was sitting in a tree. With practice, my fear of heights was getting better and better. I looked down to see Naruto approaching me with a guilty look. Jumping down next to him, I smiled as we sat on the ground. "sorry Elle. your headband got scratched during the battle. I'll buy you a new one once we get back!" he looked guilty but so very cute that it made me smile. "it's ok Naru! You don't have to worry about a thing." I pulled the other headband out of my bag, "I always have a backup!" he laughed at my childishness with a relieved look on his face. "ok guys gather around. I've decided that we'll continue with this mission only if you guys are up for it." the three Genin nodded looking determined and I just smiled as a response. "well, it's decided then." Part 1 of the plan, check! Now for the next part. "Kakashi, how long will our boat ride be?" "About 20 minutes, faster if we have an engine. Why?" oh thank god. That's definitely enough time.

We got onto the boat and I sat next to Kakashi with my legs crossed. "Kakashi, Sakura, Sasuke, put those on." I ordered them getting the bracelets out of my bag. "What is this?" Kakashi asked at us weirdly. "just listen to her" Sasuke answered with a sigh. Once they all had them on, I blocked my ears and started focusing on my chakra. As it grew, I pushed it through the wires to the bracelets and into their chakra network. I could feel Kakashi's chakra resist slightly in the beginning but I was able to force my way in. By the time we reached land, I had doubled each of their reserves and mine as well. wow, training everyday really does make a difference. I opened my eyes, my sense of calm slowly disappearing. I took my bracelet off and gathered them from the Genin and a shocked looking Kakashi, putting them back in my bag. "When did you learn how to do that?" I just shrugged at him and walked forward distracted by my own thoughts. Ok, now that they have enough chakra, there's nothing else I can do for now. Except one thing... I stopped and sighed preparing for what was coming next. I really hope this will work. "Elle, why did you stop?" I ignored Kakashi's question as I threw a wire connected kunai to the farthest tree I could see. My team was giving me weird looks. "did you sense someone?" I'm sorry guys, I'll be back. I just smiled softly at them as I closed my eyes. I poured chakra into every part of my body, charging every last cell. Then with one swift movement, I transported myself with the chakra through the wire, landing next to my kunai. I quickly cut the wire and threw it somewhere else so they couldn't track me. I suppressed my chakra, removed my headband and headed into the woods. Now onto part 3, saving Haku. This is by far going to be the hardest part. First, I need him to trust me. I stood still in the middle of a clearing and did what might've been the dumbest thing I could do. "Haku! I know you're out there! I need to talk to you." My breath hitched when I felt a kunai on my throat. "How do you know my name?" I smiled slightly trying to calm the bubbling in my stomach. "I'll tell you that once you let me go. I promise, I just want to talk." He hesitated for a second but let me go afterwards. "speak now." I sighed and sat down on the grass. "you don't have much time so I'll make this quick. My name is Elle Candel of the village hidden in the leaves. I'm here against the orders of my sensei to talk to you." He gave me a suspicious look. "What do you want?" I stood up and smiled. "I want to help you save Zabuza's life." his eyes widened before turning to a glare again. "continue." I smiled at how my plan was working. "I want something in return though." He raised an eyebrow in question. "A favor. You'll owe me one." He nodded before urging me to go on. I closed my eyes for a second sensing Zabuza's chakra. His chakra levels and Kakashi's were lowering fast. "Zabuza right now is battling the copycat ninja. He will die if you don't go to him now. He's about 30 meters north east of here. go, now!" he nodded, disappearing just as quick as he came. Part 3, done and done! Now, where did Tazuna live again? I walked off to where I thought Tazuna lived and thankfully I was right. That jutsu had taken all my extra chakra and half of my natural reserves as well. I knocked on the door and waited for an answer. Tsunami opened the door and asked who I was. "Hi miss, I'm from the team escorting Tazuna. I believe this is where we will be resting." She smiled at me and welcomed me inside. "You can use the room upstairs to your left. If you don't mind me asking, why are you here alone?" I smiled at her and responded politely. "I had something to do so I separated from my team. I sense them coming close. They should be here in a couple of minutes. I will head upstairs now, thank you for your hospitality." I bowed respectfully and left to the room she pointed me to. I put my bag down and laid down next to it on the floor. The morning's efforts were catching up to me quick. I found tears streaming down my face, this time without chakra accompanying them. In my tired and guilty state, I drifted off into a much-needed nap.
