The world of DOTA is a complicated one, one we also don't have time for, so ill just give you the rundown. In the beginning there was one species, ancients. There were three of these, The Radiant, The Dire, and the less known one, The Void (us.)
From the Radiant and Dire came emotions, as well as your conscience. From the Void came pretty much everything else (Which is why we can just transform into people instead of having to recruit them.) The Radiant and The Dire were locked in conflict, recruiting heroes to fight one another. Y/N also fought in these battles, but as one of the heroes rather than as an ancient.
But one day the the Radiant and Dire ancients were locked away. Y/N got to go free because no one other than the other ancients knew about him, and even they did not know he participated in their wars.
He looked around the universe a while before he saw a planet he was interested in, earth. So he decided to go visit it, having no idea what could be in store for him.
