Chapter 6: Let the Madness Begin

It was the first day of our sports fest and I was really excited to watch the basketball game... not to support my strand, but to make my revenge.

"Denisse!" I called upon seeing her on their classroom. She was reading something on a piece of paper before looking at my direction. I saw her eyes widen and excitement filled her face.

She took her bag. "Xaya!" Denisse excitedly shouted my name as she ran towards my direction. Napansin ko ang pagbibigay ng atensiyon ng kaniyang mga kaklase sa amin kaya nag-iwas ako ng tingin.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Para namang ilang taon tayo na 'di nagkita?" I said as she reached me. Dalawang araw lang naman kaming hindi nagkita pero kung sumalubong siya sa akin ay parang nangibang-bansa ako.

She frowned before asking, "Ano? Manonood tayo ng basketball mamaya?"

I merely nodded and smiled. She grabbed my hands and pulled me towards the gymnasium. Before the event starts, all of the senior high school students should attend the opening ceremony.

Nang makarating kami sa gymnasium ay sinalubong kami ng malakas na ingay dahil punong-puno na ito ng mga estudyante na may sari-sariling mundo at usapan. There was only one person that caught my attention, it was Calvin who was wearing his red basketball jersey... masasabi ko na bagay sa kaniya ang suot niya, pero wala akong pakiaalam doon.

"Anong mga ngiti yan?" Denisse asked upon seeing me smiling. My eyes were widened. Hindi ko namalayan na nakangiti na pala ako habang nakatingin sa direksyon ni Calvin na nakikipag-usap sa kaniyang nga kaibigan.

"Wala, may naisip lang ako." I answered.

She smirked at me. "Sino? Si Rayden? Titig na titig ka sa kaniya, oh? Are you fantasizing him?" Pang-aasar niya. Kailan ba ako titigilan ni Denisse sa pamimilit na may gusto ako kay Rayden? "Sayang hindi siya magba-basketball, pero huwag kang mag-alala dahil manood tayo ng table tennis game niya mamaya." She continued.

I glared at her. "Oo! Iniisip ko siya na kasama mo habang magkahawak ang inyong mga kamay." I said with a joyful tone before letting out a smirk.

Nagkukulitan kaming dalawa habang naghahanap ng bakanteng mauupuan. And I was lucky! Everything went according to my plan dahil sa unahan kami mauupo.

The tedious ceremony started and ended with the students uninterested. Halata namang walang nakikinig at lahat ay inaantok kahit pa ang gagaling ng mga intermission number.

Everyone cheered and the gymnasium was filled with excitement when we reached the torch lighting part.

After the ceremony, most of the students decided to watch the basketball game while some went outside the gymnasium. The first game would be STEM and HUMSS..  red against blue, a nice game.

The players were warming up on the court while the audiences were cheering for the team they support.

"S! T! E! M! Strive for Greatness!" Our strand yelled for the basketball team. Si Denisse ay todo suporta, samantalang ako ay nakaupo lamang at nakahalukipkip habang naghihintay na magsimula ang laro.

"HUMSS Never Stops! Rise to the Top!" The opposing strand cheered for their team. Nakakabingi ang mga sigawan at suporta ng bawat estudyante sa loob ng court kaya tinakpan ko na lamang ang aking mga tainga.

The referees, commentator and other facilitators had arrived. We heard the whistle that means the game is about to start.

The left side of the court was for the HUMSS while the right side was for the STEM. I was disappointed when I couldn't see Silverio in the court. The first five of our strand were Alcantara, Bautista, Ramos, Reyes, and Garcia.
