Prologue

PROLOGUE

If you two were meant to be, Destiny will find a way to bump your life to each other. Unexpectedly, your life would be fucked up. So just agree and enjoy the trip of our friend, that sometimes our betrayer, Destiny.

Khlouie Dane Aguilar's POV

IT WAS OUR first day of school of being grade 6. Nasa section-Lawrencium ako at yung pinsan ko ay nasa section-Selenium. Ganyan talaga ang mga section dito sa school na ito. Para bang scientist yung principal at ganyan ang mga section. Kung hindi principal, mga doctor at engineer na teachers.

Since grade 4 dito na ako, ang section naman namin noon ay section-Endocrine. Simula ng mag-aral ako dito sa Letezias Elementary School-- na isa sa mga most prestigious elementary schools dito sa Pilipinas-- ay nabago na ang buhay ko.

Nakaupo ako ngayon sa pinaka-gilid, ang walang pakialam ko ay kitang-kita sa aking mukha. The students in the classroom are doing nonsense things, like throwing paper planes, others are using their phones and most of them is chatting and like getting to know each other.

I don't know why but they're bullying me for no reason. For them, I am a loser and a nerd. So to gain my self confidence, I studied hard so that I can get the top 1. And I successfully did it.

For the last 2 years here in elementary, I didn’t have friends, but I have bullies. I remember crying in night, wet t-shirts and a growling stomach. But despite of all that happenings in my life, never a single word came out from my mouth and telling it on my parents.

Walang pakialam sa paligid.

Ito ang tingin na ipinapakita ko. Pinaramdam ko sa kanilang wala akong pakialam kahit na mamatay ako sa pangbubully nila.

At iyon talaga ang alam nila. But I want to shout at them that I also feel hurt. That I was expecting arms that would help me stand even there's nothing.

I am now listening to a music from my iPhone. I fixed my thick glasses and comb my messy hair with my fingers. Napatingin ako sa pintuan ng tumingin doon lahat ng kaklase ko. A handsome young boy was standing there with headphones and a backpack on his shoulder.

Naramdaman ko ang pagtibok ng aking puso ay biglang bumilis. Lumingon siya sa gawi ko at matiim akong tinitigan. His eyes were emotionless. Agad siyang nag-iba ng tingin at binaling ko ulit ang tingin ko sa phone ko to keep myself busy.

Nagbabasa ako sa phone ko ng pumasok ang teacher namin.

“Good morning class Lawrencium.” Tumayo kaming lahat at nag-greet. “I am, Kate Esperanza, this school year’s adviser." May hawak siyang wooden ruler sa kanang kamay at bahagyang ipinapalo it sa kaliwang kamay sakto lang para hindi masaktan.

“Now, please introduce yourselves here in front,”  Pumunta na sa harap si Yvonne, na pinaaral ng mayor dito dahil labandera ang nanay niya sa bahay nila mayor at nakita ni mayor ang galing at talino niya ay nagkainteresadong pag-aralin siya nito.

“Yvonne Kaye Gutterez, nice meeting you all” she said shyly.

When it’s time to introduce myself too, I feel nothing. I got used to it.

“Khlouie Dane Aguilar,” I said. Tumingin sakin si teacher Kate. Her eyes were confused when she looked at me. “Any activities? Hobbies?” she asked.

“Ma’am top 1 lang yan. Ano ba inaasahan niyo diyan? With brains nga without beauty naman.” My heart clenched in pain when Athena said that. Why do I feel this pain? I am used to it! I should feel no pain!

“Hoy, may nagkakagusto naman sakanya…” tumingin ako kay Ashley. “Si Cedric!” nagtawanan silang lahat at napangiwi naman ako.

Ewwww Cedric? Seriously, Ashley? Si Alex nalang sana na nerd sa kabila mas gusto ko pa yun! Yeah, it's a better choice than Cedric!

I am expecting teacher Kate will laugh too, because who wouldn't laugh at a great joke? Right?

But no. She was emotionless as she look at the class. “Athena Bellezo and Ashley Laranang!” sambit ni teacher. “GET OUT!” I was shock at what she just said.

“M-ma’am” my voice was shaking. She looked at me and smiled sweetly. “It’s okay,” she said. Nanlaki ang mga mata ng dalawang kaklase. Wow, it's the first time someoneshouted to somebody for me.

Nang makalabas ang dalawa ay bumalik siya sa klase. "I don't need bullies in my class." Pahabol na savi ni Ma'am.

Umupo ako sa seat ko. 'Di ko man lang nahalatang umupo siya sa tabi ko kanina. “Okay, introduce yourself,” pag-uumpisa ni teacher Kate.

“Mike Angel Castillo. Transferee and I love playing basketball, reciting my own poems, and reading something about airplanes.” His eyes were emotionless, napapitlag ako ng tumingin siya sa gawi ko at tumitig sakin. Our eyes locked. Ako na ang umiwas ng tingin ng magising sa diwa dahil nagsalita si teacher Kate, “Interesting.”

I thought he was only a boy, but no. A normal boy, who would make fun of me, bully me like what others do, but no. He wasn't.
