Chapter 13

Maxine's Pov

"Blonde 3'oclock" Jessica says

Oh hell no.

It's Lauren.

But I felt a strange vibe. Something was off. She smelt like dead roses and she looked pale. Her blonde hair looked longer and white. She looked at me quick. I growled and looked down at Victoria who was sleep. Lauren looked down too at Victoria with a surprised reaction. Seconds later a pale raven looking girl joined her.

She's a vampire, there vampires.

I looked at Jessica who had a poker face.

"Well look who's black ass came to the grocery store" Lauren says in a deep voice

"Well this black ass must not be awful for someone enjoys it" I say grinning

Lauren scoffs

"And it created that vile creature you call a girl" She says laughing

"I think your mistaken. She comes from both sides of good looking folks" I say getting some pork chops and throwing them in the shopping cart

This is kind of funny actually

"I think not only from it's father" Lauren says

"Well as attractive as he is, I think he wouldn't choose someone ugly" I say as Jessica puts in some more meat.

"Your body is bearable, the rest of you not" Lauren says

"Humph I think this was a nice chit chat but I think we got to get going" I say walking away.

Lauren just stares. Jessica and I get the rest of our stuff, checkout and pack up the car. As I'm putting away the shopping cart Lauren pops up behind me.

"You know I will make you pay, Luna" Lauren says

"And I'll be waiting with popcorn" I say laughing and getting in the car

"What the hell just happened, back there" Jessica asks

"Oh just a little reunion, I guess" I say pulling out the parking lot.

"Watch out, who knows what that sneaky bitch is doing" Jessica says clutching the arm rest.

"I'm already 2-steps ahead" I say

We take off to the house where Austin is playing video games with Jackson.

"We're home" I announce walking in with Victoria

The boys immediately get up and help with the bags. I go to Victoria's room where I put her stuff down and sit in the nursing chair. I nurse Victoria as Austin comes in and closes the door.

"Jessica told me what happened" Ausin says leaning on the crib

"Well I stood my ground" I say

"Yes, but we can now be facing dangers, Victoria" he says calmly

"Well I couldn't do anything about that" I say defensively

"I know you couldn't" Austin says

"Then what are we going to do" I ask while burping Victoria.

"I don't know yet, but I have to think fast" he says

I set Victoria down in the crib.

"I think we need to see Jìafatt" I say

Jìafatt is a spiritual hybrid who has a connection with all mythical beings.

"I think so too" Austin says as we embrace eachother.

"We'll go tomorrow" I say

"Ok" he says

We walk out the nursery downstairs to the kitchen where Jessica was chopping up some vegetables and Jackson was gone. I get the roast, clean it, cut it up and put it in a bowl then chop up cilantro, tomatoes, onions. I mix the stuff together before putting it in heated pot. I turn around to see Austin cleaning the meat he was going to grill. I decided to start making the macaroni and cheese. As I was making the Mac and cheese I started to think about Lauren. How did the Vampires take them in, why? I ask as I put the stuff in the oven.

Everybody got there 2 hours later when the stuff was done and everybody was here we ate.

"I have an announcement" Austin says

"Today Maxine has encountered Vampires, one of them Lauren" everybody gasps

"We have to stay together for danger is coming" he says

"If you smell vampire on territory be cautious, that is all" Austin says

Austin and his father get up and go walk off. I really do hope things will be ok
