Hard Exterior: Levi x Reader

Levi's Story

The man's face was half burned and hair was missing. There were also several injuries and the man looked to be dying. When he opened his eye, he saw three people looking at him. Levi, (Y/n) and another scout. The other scout had his gun pointed at Kenny. Levi, just held his pointing it at the ground. "Oh, gee... It's you?" Blood came from the man's mouth. (Y/n)'s frown deepened.

Levi on the other hand seemed indifferent. "Your comrades we fought... They all ended up getting crushed. Are you the only survivor?" Kenny didn't seem to disagree. "Report back. I'm fine here with (Y/n)." With that said, the scout left. For awhile, Levi was just silent, his eyes scanning over Kenny carefully. "With those burns and that blood loss... there's no helping you now."

Kenny smiled. "Yeah? I wonder..." (Y/n) had been looking around in case she saw anything else, but when she heard clinking, she turned back. The man had a needle and more of that solution. Both hers and Levi's eyes widened at the sight of the stuff. Her hand immediately clutched around Levi's cape. "I swiped this little one right out of Rod's bag. Seems if I inject this... I'll turn into a Titan. One of those dumb Titans... unfortunately. For a while... it should extend my... life."

Again, the air went silent. (Y/n) stepped closer to Levi, hiding behind him, with her eyes peeking out over his cloak. "You've had the time and strength to inject yourself. Why haven't you?" Levi asked.

Kenny just breathed. "Yeah... I wonder... If I don't inject it right... I might end up like he did... all messed up."

Levi wasn't buying it. "I know you're not sitting here waiting to die. Don't you have a better excuse?"

(Y/n) didn't like it, the way Levi was talking. "I... don't wanna die... and wanted power. But... I see... I think I understand why he did it, after all this time..." Levi was obviously confused, Kenny just laughed. "Everybody I've met... was all the same. Drinking... Women... Worshiping God, even... Family... The King... Dreams.... Children... Power... Everyone had to be drunk on somethin' to keep pushing on...Everyone.... Was a slave to somethin'. Even him..." Kenny coughed out more blood as Levi lowered his gun. "A-And what are you? A hero?!"

Reaching down, Levi took Kenny's shoulders roughly. (Y/n)'s eyes widened. "Kenny. Tell me everything you know! Why doesn't the First King want humanity to survive?!" (Y/n) took a step back. Why was Levi being like this?

Why would he act like this? "Beats me... but... we Ackermanns... opposed him... for that reason."

Blood splattered on Levi's face, but he didn't wipe it away immediately. He was more focused on Kenny and getting answers. "My last name seems to be Ackermann, too. You... What were you to my mother?"

Kenny smiled. "Heh, you idiot... Just her brother."

Levi was of course surprised as he stared at the man before him. "That day... why? Why did you leave me?" Hearing that, her eyes softened. Levi... like her... was scared of being alone. Left behind in this world where he can't escape.

Turning her head, she started to think. "Because... I'm not meant to be... someone's father..." Lifting the case, Kenny closed it and shoved it against Levi's chest. Levi's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the man before him, before looking down and taking the case himself. When he looked up, Kenny's eyes were dull.

The man was dead. "Kenny..." After a second, (Y/n) let her feet carry her closer to Levi. Her knees hit the grassy field and her arms wrapped around him. Levi was about to ask what she was doing, when he remembered what happened to her own father. Instead, he took a deep breath, and placed his empty hand on hers.

Her head nuzzled into his back, just between his shoulder blades. "I'm sorry, Levi. That another person in your life has left you all alone, and that you're just now learning the truth about who he was. It's okay though, because you still have a family. Everyone in the Scouts... Hanji, Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Mike, Erwin.... Everyone cares about you." She held him just a little tighter. "You'll be okay in the end. I know it."
