(2) Familiar

I pull away from Yunho, huffing my breath as hear whispers, walking pass them.

"Hope, where are you going?" I hear Sam ask, as if you care, I keep walking.

I walk toward the trees, on the right side of the land, nearly screaming when Luna appears by my side. She sends me a small smile but keeps her distance unsure of how I feel.

"You alright?" I shrug, unsure of myself as well, we stop a few feet from the trees silence falling over us.

Why aren't there birds chirping?

Or a noise of any animal?

I frown tilting my head as I flicker my eyes over the trees not seeing any animals.

"We should head back," I whisper, feeling uneasy and Luna hums in agreement.

Just we turn around, screams erupt from behind us, I push my fear aside, "go to the others now," I say to my sister and she does as told.

I jump as a louder scream tears through the air, I close my eyes trying to calm myself as my heart speeds up and images flash through my mind.

I swallow harshly, turning toward the trees, I jog over trying to ignore my fear and panic.

Someone could be getting killed right now.

I have to help.

I step into the woods, a chill running down my spine, my body sensing that something is extremely wrong here.

I walk a couple of steps before hearing, "Hope are you insane?!" I ignore him and continue walking waiting for another scream. "Hope don't ignore me-," before he can finish another scream is heard and I bolt in that direction.

"Hope! Hongjoong!" I hear Lukas call but continue to run, not long after I hear another scream.

I'm coming just, hold on, please.

I can hear Hongjoong running behind me, I'm shorter than him but faster also.

I shake my head, returning my focus to what is happening right now. I spot a clearing…squinting I can make out two figures. I jump as an arm wraps around my waist and a hand goes over my mouth, I relax slightly when I remember that it's Hongjoong.

He pulls us behind a tree, close enough to see and enough not to be seen.

We're supposed to be helping.

I shoot Hongjoong, a look but he ignores me. I almost get up as there is another scream but stop myself.

After a few minutes a hoarse voice speaks, "it's not working Nath," I hear a few mumble words before, 'Nath,' speaks. "It supposed to, if they were to come we were going to have some fun," I shiver at the last word knowing the meaning behind it.

Who are these guys?

"Nic how many are there?" The unknown asks, I hear Nic speak tone cold. "Two girls and nine guys, one seems to be in a relationship…the other…she seems complicated."

"Oh I love complicated, but what do we do about the guys?" questions 'Nath' tone thoughtful. I frown, my gut twisting knowing that something isn't quiet right with them.

"Seeing as this didn't work, we watch them, particularly the complicated one," unknown says. I tense, wanting, needing to get away fast.

"Sounds good," Nic mumbles and we listen for the footsteps to indicating they're leaving before standing up.

"Joong, what do we do?" I whisper mind running wild as we head back to the camp, to inform the others.

"We only tell the guys don't need to worry your sister or brother," he says voice tired. "Last time I did that-,"

People died.

"We'll be alright Hope," he whispers and I can feel my chest aching because they always called me a nickname, a special one.

I miss them.

"I just don't want you guys to get hurt," I say as the words swims around in my head. I hear a sigh escape his lips before feeling a hand holding mine.

I smile softly, but it drops quickly, worry overtaking my emotions.

"….Hope, trust me we'll be alright," I nod at his words, we step out of the trees and back by the lake.

As soon as my feet hit the sand my sister is clinging to me like a cat. I rub her back, arms wrapping around her gently.

I look toward Lukas, nodding at him he returns it before walking over to the guys seeing as Hongjoong beckoned him closer.

I walk over to Sam, who is staring at the water, "I'm sorry big bro," I say but he doesn't respond, instead he yanks me and Luna into a hug.

"You're an idiot," he says softly holding us tightly, I feel tears sting my eyes, burying my head into his shoulder. "I miss you Sammy," I say softly and hear him release a shaky breath.

I want the old Sam back, please.

It's been two years.

I know….it isn't easy…but please.

"It's Sam," he scoffs tone slightly playful and I hear Luna laugh. We pull apart when we hear Wooyoung ask loudly, "can't we just leave?"

"We can't, tires are slashed and fuel lines have been cut," Sam calls, walking over to them, I look at Luna and begin to play with her hair.

My eyes travel over the trees, looking for someone or to spot anything unusual.

I'll protect you guys as best as I can.

I feel dread fill me as I know we're going to be stuck here for who knows how long, we need to leave but can't. It's at least a day's drive to the nearest town, who know how long on foot.

"Hope…will we be alright?" I hear Luna ask voice sounding small, I nod and send her a small smile.

I'll make sure of it.

"Look at this boys," I tense moving my sister behind me as the familiar voice rings in my ears.

"We have visitors," Nath's unmistakable voice says as he steps toward us. I back up, sending him a glare.

Mingi steps in front of me and I can feel Lukas hold onto Luna who isn't letting go of me.

"Why so defensive? We just came to say hi," Nic says mockingly. I tense even more as a familiar voice fills the air.

"I've missed you all."
