CASSIE COULD VAGUELY HEAR THE SOUND OF SOMEONE SAYING HER NAME. Bright lights flickered above her eyes, her disorientation only adding to the confusion swimming in her brain.

When she opened her eyes, Cassie vaguely recognized her surroundings as the ER. She was wheeled into a trauma room, unable to clearly see the doctors at her bedside.

"GSW to the lower left abdomen, bullet is lodged inside," she heard a deep voice say.

"Ouch," she mumbled incoherently.

"Cassie, you're okay. You're going to be okay."

She recognized the familiar comforting yet panicked voice; Dr. Bailey.

She was fading in and out of consciousness, but immediately became alert when her shirt was lifted up. Entirely confused and out of it, all she knew was that she didn't want anyone to touch her. She didn't even know where she was.

"Stop... stop, let me... 'm fine..." Cassie slurred out, unaware of how her words blurred together.

"We need to check the wound—"

"No, stop, it's.... 'm 'kay...."

"Okay," Bailey's voice infiltrated her hazy mind. "Okay, Cassie, you were shot. You're gonna be alright, but we need to examine you, okay?"

"N... no..."

Unable to keep her eyes open, Cassie squeezed them shut. Everything is too loud. Why does her stomach hurt? Who's touching her? Why do they need to examine her, she's perfectly fine? Right? Did Bailey say that someone got shot?

"Cassie," Bailey interrupted in a soft voice, smoothing down the hair stuck to her forehead. "You're in shock right now, but you're safe, I promise."

"No... no, let me go home..."

Bailey looked at the monitor worriedly as her stats began to drop. "Someone get me a sedative!"

(Cassie, unaware of her own movements let alone what was going on, began thrashing around. In pain and oblivious, all she knew that was that it hurt.)

Cassie blearily looked around the room, taking short breaths as her chest rose and fell rapidly.

"Addie...? Can you can Addie... 'm stomach... maybe it's... maybe she can fix it..."
