chapter 41

I woke up at night thirsty. So I made my way to the kitchen. I first checked the kids room and then quietly went to the kitchen

I didn't want to wake anyone up...especially Robert so I tip toe my way around the house

I quickly poured myself a glass of water and made my way straight to the bedroom afterwards...I know this is how black people in horror movies and I'm not about to be an example.

On my way upstairs I just had to bump into the devil himself...Robert

"Fancy seeing you here after 3 years" he spat as he grabbed onto my neck

"Let go of me Robert or I'm going to scream" I breathed out nervously

"I told you to stay away...and you...you come back with children?" He whispers as he tightens his grip around my neck "I should've killed you three years ago"

I'm not going to die at the hands of Robert so I kick his baby making machine...his grip loosens around my neck and I take this as my chance to make a run for it.

I go to the kids room and scoop them up. Their sleeping with daddy and I.

When I got to our bedroom Lorenzo was already up. He eyes me curiously as I place the sleeping babies on the bed and stand beside the bed watching them sleep peacefully

"What happened?" He rubs his eyes

"Nothing...just go back to bed" I tell him

"Angelina you need to talk to me...what's going on?" He asks as he gets out of bed carefully so that he doesn't wake the kids up

"Just hold me" I instruct him

He picks me up and walks over to the couch on the side of the room. He sits down and covers us both with the small blanket that was hanging on the couch.

"When I said you were mine...I meant it" he whispers "I don't know who you're protecting...but you and these children are my only priority Angel" he kisses my head reassuringly.

I fall asleep in his arms.

I wake up and instantly panic when I'm alone in the bedroom... I run out of the door and go downstairs in search of my babies. Thankfully I hear the twins voices followed by Lorenzo's laughter coming from the garden

When I reach them they all look up at me "Oh look...mommy is up" Lauren points out

"Were you wunning?"Stephanie asks

"Yes...I was running princess; I didn't want to miss out on all the fun you're having out here" I lie

"Summer told me to tell you that Joanna was very pleased with the article you wrote about Summer"Lorenzo says

"Oh...where is Summer by the way?"

"Work" is all he says and I nod my head

"Look...Dad and I are going out to sort out some business with my brothers; they're also visiting. I'll be back in no time" he studies my face "...please don't leave, when I get back...I want to see you playing with our children" he pulls me in for a hug "something tells me that things are going to be different around here now" he kisses my forehead

"If you need anything at all...you can call me or the bodyguards" he says as he runs his fingers through my hair

I nod my head. I'm glad Robert is leaving the house...it gives me peace of mind

"Do you want me to bring you anything when I return?"

"Just come home safe and sound so you can protect us"

He smiled and promised me that he'll be back as soon as possible

When Robert came down he gave me the coldest glare he could muster.

Lauren and I spent our day catching up. She told me that she's planning to divorce Robert and I'm so happy for her

"Lorenzo was acting very strange this morning..." she says "he kept apologising to me for God knows what...saying that he and his brothers are going to fix things"

"He didn't mention what he meant by that?" I quiz as I run my fingers through Bambolina's hair

"No...but he also mentioned that he now knows why you left him three years ago" she says and I halt all movement...that can't be

"What?" I gasp

"He was so angry when he told me...he said that he's going to make him pay for everything he has done"

"Who is he talking about?" I ask

"He didn't tell me but he seems to have it all figured out"

"I hope he doesn't do anything stupid" I say

I doubt that Lorenzo found the guy...because if he knew it was Robert then he wouldn't be out with him right now. He better not hurt an innocent person.
