Lily Black and the Twin Souls

Chapter Three: The Sorting Hat

Lily and Teddy followed Hagrid through the huge doors and into the castle itself. They grinned at each other, already loving Hogwarts and came to a stop with the rest of the first years outside yet another set of doors. Hagrid left and Lily's dear cousin (note the sarcasm) immediately turned to Harry and said,

"Is it true? What everyone's saying? They're saying Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts. I suppose it's you then, is it?" Harry nodded and Ron stifled a laugh at Malfoy's name, who in turn, insults his family before Lily interrupted him,

"Hello, dear cousin. Long time no see? Although I have always been rather surprised that you can see at all, what with a nose that size! Good luck not tripping over your feet Dracula. Yeah, that's what I'm going to call you that now. I'd say it rather suits you." Teddy burst out laughing as did many other students and Dracula's face turned bright red. Before he can say anything, , a stern-looking which in emerald green robes came out of nowhere and tapped him on the shoulder, motioning for him to go. Lily's face lit up when she realized who she was looking at. It was Minnie! Her father had told her all about her when she was a baby. Lily immediatley nudged Teddy, making him look up. She leaned over to him and whispered,

"That's Minnie! My dad told me about her when I was a baby. He told me to make sure to call her that. We just have to! What do ya say, Teddy-Bear?" Teddy glanced up at the witch and quickly agreed, saying,

"Minnie it is. I can't wait for her reaction Lily-Flower!" Lily grinned broadly at him before adding,

"Also, I'm going to threaten the sorting hat with fire is he doesn't put me in Gryffindor, you need to find your own murder method," Teddy smirked at the raven-haired girl and nodded. Minnie came back at that moment, and Lily and Teddy were practically bursting with excitement. 

Lily walked into the Great Hall with her arm linked through Teddy's and her head held high, smirking at anyone who looked their way. When Minnie's gaze landed on the two of them, shecould have sworn she heard her mutter,

"Here we go again," Minnie was already Lily's favorite professor and that just made her like her even more. Lily watched as The Sorting Hat sang it's song,and applauded with everyone else. Then Minnie began to call people up in order their last lame and she leaned over to Teddy and whispered,

"I'm going soon since my last name is Black. Have you come up with a murder method yet?" Teddy smirked at her and whispered back,

"Yup. I'm going to threaten taking it to the acromantula nest in the Forbiddden Forest and leaving it there." They both smirked at that, and at last Minnie called out,

"Black, Lily" 

Lily swaggered up to the stool with the hat on in and Minnie placed it on her head. Then a voice started talking inside her head,

'Hello Lily Black, wow your mind is almost the exact same as your father's was. You are both extremely overconfident and-' Lily cut him off by saying loudly,

"I don't think there's such thing as overconfidence hat. But if you put me in other house other then Gryffindor, then I will personally introduce to to a little something I like to call fire." Teddy sniggered at that and so did a few other people while Minnie just looked exasperated. The sorting hat continued talking in her head,

'I suppose so. And even if you didn't mention the flames, this was still going to happen, so don't let it go to your head...' "GRYFINNDOR!" Lily cheefully hopped up and placed the hat on Minnie's head, saying,

"I'm sure I'll see you in detention at some point Minnie." Minnie nodded and said,

"Yes, yes you will. Tommorow night at 7 o'clock pm. Don't be late." Lily smirked at her and swept her a bow, saying,

"Me? Late? Never. I'm bringing a friend by the way. My dear Teddy Walters. I hope that's okay. because if it isn't then I'm sure we can find a way to get him detention too."

"He can come," Minnie sighed. Lily walked of the dais and over to Teddy and whispered,

"We have detention tommorow at 7 pm. Don't be ontime." Teddy smirked and said,

"Of course, see you soon Lily-Flower,"

"Chow for now, Teddy-Bear," she said, smirking as she walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat down.

Lily didn't pay much attention to the rest of the sorting, only looking up from her nails when Harry was sorted into Gryffindor. She gave him a bright smile as her passed her. When it was Teddy's turn, she actually looked up, and smirked when she heard him threatening the Sorting Hat.

"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat yelled and Teddy sauntered over to her grinning. They smirked at each other and then looked up at the Professor's table, and noticed quite a few of them eying the pair worriedly. 

Teddy and Lily were introduced to the weasley twins, and with a loook, knew that they would need to be friends with them to learn the secrets of the castle. In the middle of the feast, the Lily leaned over to Percy and learned the password to Gryffindor tower, which was Caput Draconis. Once they had this information, Lily, Teddy, Fred and George stood up and made their way out of the hall together, earning wary looks for students and teachers alike.

Outside the Great Hall, the weasley twins led, Lily and Teddy down to the kitchens, where they learned to tickle to pair to gain entrance. Once inside, they all sat down at one of the long tables and Fred pulled a piece of blank parchement out of his pocket. Lily's eyes immediately lit up,

"Is that what I think it is?" she asked excitedly, and the twins exchanged confused glances,

"That depends-" Fred started and George continued,

"On what you think it is,"

"The Maurader's Map of course!" Lily exclaimed happily and the twins looked at her in shock. 

"How did you know about the map?" George asked and Lily said,

"My dad's Padfoot. He told me about it when I was a baby. I have Hyperthymesia. It means I can't forget things." Their jaws dropped, and the asked excitedly,

"Do you know who the other Mauraders are?" Lily smirked,

"Of course I do. James Potter, Harry's dad was Prongs. Peter Pettigrew is Wormtail, and Moony is Remus Lupin." Fred and George both fainted, and Lily sniggered and grabbed the map, pulling out her wand. Then she did a duplication spelland made sure both maps worked. Then she and Teddy, who were both smirking, took the original one and left the uncouncious twins with the other. 

"Is it bad that I don't feel even a little remorse?" Lily asked and Teddy shook his head saying,

"Nope, I don't either." They smirked at each other and Lily tapped the map, saying,

"I solemly swear I am up to no good," The map appeared and they spent the rest of the night planning and setting up their first prank and exploring the castle, along with avoiding Filch. By morning they both knew the castle by the back of their hands. They had even found some passages and rooms that weren't on the map. They had even found a really nice three-headed dog that they nicknamed Cerberus after the dog in greek mythology. (They had both liked reading about it when they were younger.)

Basically, they were now the people who knew Hogwarts the best.
