At The End of the Day

Chapter 2

I took my cellphone and called Ashanti to get some stacked work because I'm leaving early with Tyler .

" Hey Ash, get some drafts on my office and work on it with your team, I'm going home early today, we were called by Mom" since we got engaged, we have been staying in the same place to know each other. But for me, I don't have to know him well anymore because, I always knew who he was, that's why I fell in love with him. Deeply. Sad to say that it is one- sided love. Ako lang ang nagmamahal.

" Wow, it's a miracle na uuwi ka" she asked me. "But, we? You mean your husband,Tyler?" sila lang ni Sam ang may alam na asawa ko si Tyler.

" Yeah, they called Tyler". sagot ko sa kanya habang pababa ng hagdan.

"Seriously? It's good that he agreed, knowing him to be a very workaholic man, that's why he can not go home that much diba laging nasa office, minsan naman nasa business meetings plus minamanage niya yung hospital nila diba?" masungit  na tugon niya. Tama si Ash kaya minsan ako lang ang nasa bahay.

While walking down the stairs, I immediately  stopped first because I feel very tired and I can feel the shortness of my breath.

"Shit" i mumbled. I need my medicine. I ran faster, para makainom ng gamot. Padarag kong binuksan at sinarado ang pintuan ng opisina ko at dumiretso sa table at kinalkal ang bag ko dahil andoon nakalagay ang mga gamot ko. With my trembling hands, i took the medicine and drink the water. I was on the verge of crying when Shanti barged on my office.

"Vrae! OMG, are you alright? Should I call Tita Cynthia or Tyler?" bigla akong napatingin sakanya dahil sa pangalang binanggit niya.

" No! Don't call Tyler, he didn't know about my condition" pasigaw kong sabi kay Ash.

" OMG , what to do? Vrae, I'm worried as fuck!" nanghihinang natawa ako sa reaksyon niya. I let out a soft chuckle.

" Parang hindi ka naman sanay sa ganto ko Ash" then i laughed. Shit, it's so painful. Umupo nalang ako sa swivel at pumikit, napahinga ako ng malalim, feeling ko hihimatayin ako sa sakit. Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko.
I looked up on Ash, and I saw her doing something on her phone, she's nervous. With her hands trembling, she dialled someone, and I know who it is. My Mom.

" Oh Gosh, Tita Cynthia! Vrae's having her episode, she can't breathe properly!" malakas na sigaw niya sa kausap.

"Ash just calm down , I'm fine okay? Drop the call, now". maotoridad kong sabi sa kanya.

" Yes Tita, she's fine na daw po" tumango-tango  pa siya. Then she hanged up. Dali dali siyang kumuha ng tubig at ibinigay sa akin.

" Are you fine na ba talaga? Vrae , I'm freakin' worried here!" sigaw niya pa sakin at ibinagsak ang kamay sa table ko.

"And how come that Tyler didn't know about your fuckin' condition?!" hindi niya naman talaga malalaman dahil hinding hindi ko sasabihin.

" I didn't tell him , okay and besides ano naman sakanya yun? He doesn't care about me, in case you forgot" mahinang litanya ko at napapikit.

" Vrae!" napamulat ako ng may tumawag sa pangalan ko, it was Samantha.

" I'm okay Sam" inunahan ko na siya dahil alam kung yun din ang pinunta niya dito.

" Ash texted me saying na you can't breathe properly daw, so I hurried here, cause I'm worried!" . Ah, I'm so thankful because I have those
two gorgeous girls on my side.

I was startled when my phone rang. I fished it without looking who the caller is. " Vrae Garcia speaking" nailayo ko ng mabilis ang phone ko ng marinig ko kung sino ang nasa kabilang linya.

" Mom, why are you shouting? I am perfectly fine. Sam and Ash is here with me, no need to worry, your daughter is strong, kay? Bye Mom, I love you too" then I hanged up. Sumandal ako sandali at mariing pumikit. Napabalikwas ako ng tumunog nanaman ang phone ko.

" Mom, I said-- Where are you?" napatayo ako agad ng marinig ko ag boses niya. Shit! I forgot about him. Natataranta kong inayos ang mga gamit ko kaya napatingin sa akin ang dalawa, nakakunot ang kanilang mga noo. Nagtataka sa pagmamadali ko.

" I'll be there in five" matapos kong sabihin ay ibinaba niya na agad ang tawag, napanguso nalang ako dahil sa ginawa niya.

" Girls gotta go, I have plans today so I'm leaving early" sabay tingin kay Ash na naghahalungkat ng mga papeles.

" Shanti you know what to do, I already told you earlier , okay?" pagkatapos kong sabihin yun ay lumapit ako sa kanila and I kissed their cheeks as I bid my goodbye.

" Ingat kayo Vrae" nakangising tugon ng dalawa. Psh, whatever.
