I always believed death to be the ultimate form of peace, tranquility.A place where nothing was heard, felt or seen. Just you, taking an endless nap forever to be lost in such a dream, but I did not experience this. What I felt was my body being reformed, just like it had disappeared beginning from my toes to the knees to the hips and so on before my body was fully reformed. I felt annoyed and sad, for I wished for such a dream as death, to not worry or feel but to just experience that endless nap. However, it seems this curse has remained true and I have just been reformed for the countless amount of times like before. My surroundings where different though, I was in an alley surrounded by two buildings as I was slouched over like I was at the bonfire. The place was not destroyed like my old home but seemed quite similar by the building shapes. I began to rise when I heard voices, a cacophony of sound all belonging to outside the alley I was currently in so I decided to find out what was the cause. Peering round the corner I witnessed a metal contraption on wheels using some sort of magic drive by and humans. Humans, not hollow but actual humans with there skin not sucked dry but bright and healthy, how is such a thing possible. I have not seen humans in forever, the last time was before I became hollow, countless years ago. It was dark, so I figured it was night time so most would be asleep like I used to but the odd few were out. I stepped out onto the pavement and found a sign named 'FROM DUST TILL DAWN' above a building. I had already decided to not go there as I had no idea as to what, or where I am. I believed I am on another world as Lothric never did have those metal contraptions, and the idea was not crazy considering everything that was in my old world or even my existence. My idea to not enter was good as a human burst through the window of the building with the sign, another human in some red and black clothing followed said human shortly after before pulling out a slab of red metal. This metal the human held suddenly expanded before transforming into a scythe with weird lumps of metal all over, I believed this to be some sort of magic, maybe some sort of metal conjuration type magic. The human then did some fancy spin and slammed the weapon into the ground leaving a small hole before two other humans burst out the door of the building and charged with red blades, the other human with the scythe two down the other two humans with ease going at speeds I hadn't known where possible for my former species. I did notice the sound of loud bangs every now and then reminding me of fire bombs and some flashes coming from the end of the scythe, it wasn't long before another human came out wielding a cane? Who would wield a cane into battle, he raised it before some contraption appeared along it before a red explosive was sent out from the end. He ran off, climbing up a ladder on another building while the scythe human recovered from the magic the other used, it turned around before running towards the ladder that the cane human climbed. Using magic of its own, it shot upwards somehow onto the roof. I was intrigued by the events that happened and decided to follow the two up the ladder. When I reached the top I witnessed the cane human in another contraption that used some other type of magic to hover said metal thing. It threw a crystal at the scythe user before using more magic to blow up said crystal before laughing I think is the term used. The smoke cleared where another human was shown using a stick to block the explosion before sending these purple beams much like my own magic towards the metal contraption. It hit it causing it to sway about before the human with the stick sent a larger bolt above the contraption creating a storm that dropped ice shards tearing the metal apart but not destroying it. Some other human sent a blast of fire before causing it to explode like a fire bomb leaving chunks of brick about. Said bricks were floated about and made into a crude spear by the stick human and sent it towards the contraption before the fire human destroyed the spear. It was remade quickly again but slid off the top of the contraption before reforming into three other spears which nearly hit the contraption but the fire woman destroyed all of them with some form of explosion. I decided to test my magic, summoning a sunlight spear before throwing it towards one of the long pillars at the side. It connected as the fire human was still focused on the stick woman, the contraption made sounds of spurting and explosions as it performed spins before crashing quite a distance away leaving a plume of fire and smoke to rise from the crash. I turned to the two humans who stared at me, one with an expression of what I believed to be amazement, the other of surprise. For a few seconds that's all that happened before the stick human began to speak
"You two are coming with me." It said
I did not lime the idea so I began to walk away before I was seemingly floated upwards and covered by a purple ball, i tried to move but found I was stuck as if I had been hit by that damn lighting dust. The stick human began to walk away with the scythe following as I was stuck in this magic ball, being unable to do anything I accepted my fate and was dragged along.
It was quite some time before I was released from my trap, where we had entered some building with gray walls and a table and chair. The scythe human was sitting at the chair while I had just been released, which promoted me to grab my blade and attempt to attack the stick human. I charged but didn't make it far as the damn human restricted my movements using that magic, it floated my blade over to the corner where I couldn't reach it and left me stuck. The human began to speak with the scythe human before slamming the stick on the table frightening the scythe human before moving form the door letting in another human. This one intrigued me a lot, it looked old and wise like the giants of my own world, but wasn't as tall or bulky as those. He carried a plate filled with circular pieces of dough like things with brown pieces on it, the scythe human began to drool before eating all of them in less than a few seconds. It started to talk about love and romance in an innocent way that reminded me of The Painter. It always amazed me how oblivious to the world she was, she was one of the only people I liked before I became the Soul of Cinder. Gael always protected her and helped her. Gael. My old friend, I never did speak to you after I became this. Nor did I fulfil your wish. I... am ashamed of myself because of it. Maybe I could protect this one though, to hopefully do something similar to what you wished. I began to feel my body become unrestricted before realising where I was, I came back to hear the wise human call the scythe human Ruby Rose, so that's it's name I... like it. Ruby nodded to the wise human before leaving the room. Leaving me with the stick and wise human, he began to speak to me.
"You sir, are an unknown, I cannot find anything about you nor about who you are" It said
"I don't believe he is from here Ozpin" The stick human said
Ozpin that's it's name then, I have never heard of such a name.
"Heh I can tell Glynda, but his skills are incredible, I would like to ask you something, what is your semblance?" Ozpin said
I tried to formulate words but all that came out were heavy breaths and grunts, I am not sure why I cannot speak but it may be due to how I have not used my voice for years even before I became the Soul of Cinder. I looked towards the two and found one to expression to be of intrigue and another of pity.
"I am sorry for your condition sir, but may I ask if you can write?"Ozpin said
I nodded at Ozpin, where he brought out a weird mechanical thing and paper and handed it to me. I took the mechanical thing and found a point at the end and pressed it where a tip seemingly popped out from the other end. I figured the this was where the ink would come out as I had seen it inside a tube in the thing, so I placed it on the paper and moved it about noticing the stain it left behind. My writing was sloppy but still readable as I handed the note back to Ozpin who read it silently.
"So your a traveller form around the world, may I ask why you are here then and where your from?"
I took the paper back and wrote my answers on it before handing it back to Ozpin who read it again.
"For a new experience and you'd rather not say, hmm I'll allow that awnser but I would like to make a proposition, I wish for you to join my school."
I was confused at first, why would he invite me aren't they meant for high class people only, but I weighed the pros and cons, I could learn about this new place I am in but I may not be able to protect Ruby. I took the paper and wrote a message before handing it back to Ozpin.
"Ruby is going to my school yes, but why the question?"
I wrote down my awnser before giving it to Ozpin
"A old friend of yours asked you to protect someone, you forgot but Ruby seems similar to the person. I...... can believe this but if you try to do anything bad to her know I will not allow it."
I do not know what he meant but I did not care and accepted the proposal, I was told to head to a airport, I asked where and they told me the directions. I took my sword and left following the directions to an open area with this symbol on the ground, I figured this was it so I crouched down near it sat like I would at a bonfire before closing my eyes. Clearing my mind of everything.
