Chapter 6

Ellapov

I don't know why I'm a little excited I'm meeting some of Norman's friends and seeing where he works he hasn't told me a thing about what he does but then again I haven't asked so it's probably my fault. I wanted to look nice for him I don't know why it's not like he likes me like that he's just being nice. I mean he isn't bad on the eyes but why would someone like him be interested in a hopeless person like me?

I put my hair in a simple plait and minimal makeup and a green dress I don't want him to think I'm trying especially if he doesn't like me like that. I do an early shift so people can have their coffee and breakfast then close so I can get to his work by eleven. I got the address in the GPS on my phone, man technology is amazingly discovered this thing called Facebook it's very cool. I arrived at the address I put in. I think my jaw dropped. It's a movie set. I pulled up to the gate.

"Hi, it's a closed set ma'am."

"Oh, I'm sorry I have a delivery. My name's Ella Mackenzie from Ella's bakery."

"Yep, you're on the list. Head that way and turn left you'll see a parking lot."

"Thank you." I followed the directions he gave me the place was massive I have no idea how I'm supposed to know where I'm going.

"Hi, sweetheart. You looking for something?"

"Hi I'm kinda lost I'm not sure where I'm supposed to take this stuff."

"Oh, you're the cake lady."

"Yeah. I'm the cake lady."

"Follow me this way. Need some help? I'm Greg, Norman told me all about the cake you made. He said it looked amazing."

"I think he's being too kind. Can you take these boxes I'd never forgive myself if you dropped the cake I'm supposed to do that?"

"Okay, I'll take the boxes."

I lift the cake out of the car I'm way overdressed I should've worn jeans and a t-shirt but I wanted to look nice. Silly brain I should've thought about this.

"Hey, hon you look like a deer in headlights."

"Do I?"

"Yeah, you look nervous. There's nothing to be nervous about we're humans we don't bite the walkers on the other hand I can't promise they won't."

"Walkers?"

"Oh, that's right. You haven't seen this have you?"

"Seen what?"

"The show?"

"This is a show like on television? It looks like a movie set."

"Why thank you I think that's an awesome compliment."

"I think I might try and watch it. I need to change things like watching television I haven't watched television in years. I have so much I need to see."

"Really? Wow, that's amazing."

"It's sad that's what it is and just plain weird."

"No, it's not. Different folks that's all."

"You're too kind."

I put the cake down in what I'm guessing is the lunch room. Oh fuck I fucked up I forgot the candles, how can you have a cake with no candles.

"Oh no, oh no." Oh, could I forget something so important?

"What's wrong?"

"I forgot the candles, Greg. You can't have a birthday cake with them. Silly brain."
