I walk into the house I grew up in feeling all the emotions I suffered while being here. I look at the pictures my mom loved, framed, & hung, feeling sick to my stomach looking at her husbands face.

I walk into the living room and see him sitting there peacefully watching tv. I wanted to bash his head in, for all the things he's done to me, all the pain he's caused, and the scars he left.

'Oh your finally here' my mom Kellis says smiling at me

'Yeah the plane had a little delay' I shrug

'Baby who you talking to?' He asks, he looks over at me and immediately smiles 'Daisy'

'I prefer DaySean' I say mugging him wishing I could just end him right now

'DaySean, that is no way to talk to your father' my mom says taking his side as always. It's nothing new, this is why I never visit

'He's not my father & you know that' I say harsher than I intended

My mom gasped 'I thought you were over the little attitude you had years ago'

I look at her annoyed, how could she just sit there and say that to me?

'No mom I'm not over the fact that your husband raped me' I say

'Why do you continuously lie on your father?' She asks and I lost it

'LIE?! I'VE NEVER LIED ON HIM!! HE RAPED ME AND YOU KNOW IT!! WHY WON'T YOU BELIEVE ME?!!' I yell ready to start tearing up the place

'Now DaySean that's no way to speak to me. I raised you better than that' she says and I just look at her disgusted with the woman who 'raised' me

'This was a bad idea, I knew you'd do this. You know what believe what you want to believe. You'll never have to worry about me again. My flight leaves tomorrow and I'm never coming back' I turn around heading out

'And what are you going to do? Rap? You'll never make it out there DaySean'

That was the last thing my mother ever said to me

That was the last thing my mother ever said to me. It's been three years since I spoke to her. It's heart breaking hearing you're mother, someone who's always supposed to have your back, say things like that to you. Unfortunately I'm used to it.

I'm DaySean Dior Simms, I'm a 23 year old upcoming rapper. I know stupid profession, but rapping has been something I wanted to do since I was in high school. Now my rap career hasn't taken off yet but I'm not giving up.

'Yo Day, some cute boy just gave me his number' my roommate/bestie Amour says coming into our shared apartment.

She's a real flirt that girl. We met 7 years ago when I first moved out to California at 16 years old. She's always had my back since then. Whenever I needed to escape the harsh reality of my life she'd buy me a plane ticket to come stay with her until I was 18 and able to legally leave home.

'He was cute? So what are you going to do with it?' I ask moving over making space for her to sit

'Eh probably nothing. Besides I'll probably see him again' she shrugs ripping up the number

'When are you gonna get a real man?' I ask her shaking my head

'When you get some dick' she says back giving me a face

'I get dick' I say rolling my eyes

'I mean some real good dick. Not that bullshit Darin gives' she says making a disgusted face

'He does not give me bullshit. He gives good dick' I say knowing he doesn't

'Right' she says sarcastically then gets on her phone

'Why you always coming for him?' I ask her shaking my head

'Cuz he do too much. Ion even know why you still have him around. The dick is trash, he ain't that cute, & he got a baby on the way' she says rolling her eyes

'See why you had to bring that up?' I ask mugging her

We sit in silence for awhile before she jumps up all excited scaring the hell out of me.

'Bitch they having a ladies free night at our club. We gotta go!" She says

'Ok Mour but do you really have to be this hype?" I ask

'Hell yeah! I'm ready to turn the fuck up' she starts doing a lil twerk and I groan knowing this is ready be a wild ass night.

I go to my room to find something to wear. After trying on several no's I find my yeah. I head to the bathroom to shower first before Amour tries to steal all the hot water.

'Ooo you sneaky bitch!' She yells realizing what I did

I laugh striping out of my clothes. I look in the mirror at my body and smile. Not to sound conceited but I'm one pretty muthafucka. My eyes travel up & down until I stop on a scar. I remember the day I got it. And I remember who put it there.

I don't like thinking about my past much because whenever I do I start to feel like that fragile little 16 year old I used to be instead of the 23 year old boss bitch I am now.

I shake away those thoughts getting into the shower. Once I'm all clean I get dressed then sit at my vanity to do my make-up. This is one of the few things my mother taught me to do growing up. She said that if I was ever going to find a man I would need to hide all my flaws. That part didn't stick with me but thankfully all the tips did.

'Yo Day, can you hook a bitch up with some eyeliner?' Amour asks walking in my room

'No cuz you not ready use all mine' I say putting my make-up away

'What you mean?' She asks, I give her a look and she waves me off. Amour goes overboard with make-up sometimes which is why she's always out of something.

I take pics in the mirror while I wait for her to come down.

'Ard come on bitch we out' Amour says after taking some pics with me
