In the event a camper doesn't make it through the night, you should know the correct way to burry your fallen friend. It's an important thing to do, both for respect and the safety of you, your buddy, and any other campers.

Many dangers come with not burying a carcass. Dead bodies attract bears, squirrels, and other wildlife that are opportunistic scavengers. And, as we talked about, many creatures are hostile towards humans and pose a large threat to your camping experience.

What you need: A sharp shovel and a buddy.

The first thing you need to do is find the perfect place for a burial. You want a place with soft dirt with plenty of open space. Make sure that it's not too close to your campsite, as animals may come and try to dig up the corpse.

Preferably, dig down about six feet underground. Once dug, if possible, place the body upright, so the hair can grow up and out of the ground. However, the fetal position is an acceptable and easier method suggested for beginners.
