CHAPTER TWO

SOFIA'S POV

I was doing the dishes when I heard my uncle calling me

"Sofia come to the living area"
He said harshly

"Coming uncle" I shouted from the kitchen

I quickly dried my hands on the kitchen towel before exiting
As I entered the living area, I was greeted by the site of three bulky men wearing suits and black shades
Why wear shades inside the house?
I directed the question towards myself

The mens' faces held no emotions
They looked dangerous

"Sit down" my uncle commanded

I quickly sat on the chair opposite to the big couch where the three men were sitted

"Why was I called here uncle" I softly asked

"Sofia look you're my niece but you're also a burden to me, an extra mouth to feed" he stated

I don't have a good feeling about this
Has my only family decided to throw me out to the streets?

"I owe these men alot of money but I can't pay them, it's alot of cash" he looked at me with sadness

"So you're going to stay with them in exchange for the money I owe them"

Is my uncle selling me?

This is practically slavery

" B-but wh-y do this to me?" I sob

"I d-don't d-deserve this u-uncle and you know it too" I sobbed some more "What did I ever do to you people?" Hot tears kept flowing down my cheeks

"I don't have time for this
Just go pack your things we can't let these good men wait any longer"

Good men?

Do they look good to him?

They are here to buy me like am some cow at a show or a used table at a yard sale
But there was nothing I could do to save myself or change my uncle's mind after all am nothing but a commodity infront of his eyes.
I stood up from my chair and headed for my room upstairs to go pack
As I reached my room, I took my suitcase, opened my small closet and started throwing whatever clothes I had

My head was spinning and tears blurred my vision that I didn't see or notice my aunt and cousin standing inside my room

"Look mom the parasite is going away"
Alexina said laughing

That stung my heart

"I see that daughter, and if I may ask you whore" my aunt said looking at me with rage written all over her face

"Why are you packing my daughter's stuff? You have no belongings here
I don't see the point of you moving with our things. Stop what you're doing and just go already your presence is suffocating and it has suffocated me for 13 years now"
She barked

Hot tears ran down my cheeks

I tried to hold everything in and prove to myself and the people around me that am brave enough but I couldn't do it anymore

I didn't have the energy to argue with these people and to be honest I usually don't argue with them I do what they tell me to do like a nice puppet I already was

I wiped my tears with the heel of my palms and walked out of the room

"Am gonna miss you slave" Alexina shouted behind me while she laughed with her mom
I can't believe my only family is this evil I walked as fast as I could towards the living room
