"I know your secret, Greg Heffley, and I know what you want. But I won't let you have it!" the Indian child yowled.
Greg grunted and clenched his fist. What secret does he know? What does he know that I want? Is it... How... Is it Holly? How did he know?! Is he going to try and keep her from me?
He obviously wanted to attack the other student, but Rowley placed his hand over Greg's chest, holding him back, just as a rather chunky-looking grown man, probably a teacher, walked out of the door at the end of the hallway. "Hey, what're you guys doing? Class is about to start! Grab your uniforms and go! Come on!" he ordered. The other boy raced forward and into the door, presumably leading to the change room. Greg and Rowley quickly followed suit. On a bench in the change room sat the yellow t-shirts with a big hornet mascot plastered on it with the school's name. But just as Rowley reached out to grab his shirt, it and the other one waiting there for Greg were swiped away by thin air.
"What the–?"
The shirts floated over to the Indian boy. "Nice try, Rowley Jefferson. How will you ever participate in physical education at this school without a Westmore Hornets t-shirt, I wonder?"
"How did you do that?!" Greg spat.
"I do magic, but even I can't do that." Rowley said, half afraid, half astonished.
"It's my ability. I have much desire to acquire your's, Gregory." their mysterious peer explained, very vaguely.
"Don't call me Gregor–"
"Your journal – or, diary, my bad – is very intriguing indeed."
"What?! Diary?! How did you know?! You literally said 'Nice journal' three minutes ago!!" Greg yelped. No, wait, is this a trick? Some cheap trick? I can't believe I fell for it! I–
The boy chuckled. "Trick? Ha, no. I knew it was a diary all along. I, CHIRAG GUPTA, CAN SEE BETWEEN THE LINES! TO ME, LIES AND BLUFFS ARE INVISIBLE!!!"
Greg and Rowley choked on their surprise for a moment. "Bluff? What do you mean? Greg's diary says journal on it!" Rowley cried.
"Or so you think, you simpleminded orangutang." Chirag fired at Rowley. "In reality, the inscription of 'JOURNAL' is a false illusion, created from the power of Greg's diary! Only those who have awakened to their Stand powers can see the truth behind his Stand!"
"Stand?! What in the actual fuck are you talking about, you bitchboy?!" the wimpy kid exclaimed, punching the wall. Just as he did, though, an aura similar to Chirag's engulfed his body. Rowley gasped and flew backward into the wall.
"HEH HEH HEH, YOUR STAND, GREGORY! I KNOW ITS TRUTH! ANYTHING YOU WRITE IN IT WILL BECOME REALITY, BUT ONLY OTHER AWAKENED STAND USERS WILL SEE THE TRUTH BEHIND YOUR ILLUSIONS!!!" Chirag screeched. After a brief moment of deep breaths, the boy finally calmed down. "Holly Hills, she is what you want. However, I also have passionate feelings for her. For that very reason, I cannot allow you to keep living! My Stand, Invisible Touch, will eradicate you from this Earth!!! Luckily for me, your Stand cannot manipulate the abilities of other Stands!"
It was then when Chirag pointed at Greg. His aura suddenly got closer and closer. But, Chirag wasn't moving. There was nothing but aura in front of Greg! He had no idea what he could do. He was still pondering as to when he wrote that his diary would appear like a journal to everyone else. That was when it hit him; Greg had written in his diary that it was actually a journal, not a diary. His writing did not have to be a direct command. He had to be careful when writing in it in the future. For now, though, he needed to focus on fighting Chirag. It was either he gave up on his dreams of being rich and famous and loved by everybody, or he let himself die here over a girl. Sure, he still wanted Holly, but if he became and rich and famous, who wouldn't want him? If he went with his desired option, he'd end up with Holly anyway! Greg knew what he had to do. He needed to write in his diary. Almost instinctively and extremely quickly, Greg bent backward as if he were playing in the final stage of limbo and reached into his backpack to grab his pencil and diary. By bending his back so far, Chirag's blow completely missed Greg and instead penetrated the cement walls behind him. A big, perfect circle was left in place of the cement that was once there, before Chirag had struck it. Greg had to know why he could not see Chirag's Stand. He thought back just a few moments prior, to when Chirag explained his ability. He explained that lies were invisible to him, and pronounced his Stand name, which was "Invisible Touch". The only logical reasoning as to why Greg couldn't see Chirag's stand was because it had the ability to turn invisible!
Pulling the diary out into his hand, Greg rapidly wrote, "Chirag Gupta made his stand visible, and would not change it back."
In just a second, Chirag began to groan. "Gregory, what have you done to m– Invisible Touch, reveal yourself!" he blurted. Chirag was right! Anything he wrote in his diary came true! Just what kind of cursed object was it?
The Stand before him bore a pink-purple turban upon an orange body, with large, glassy eyes, that had an elephant-like trunk erect below them. Its chin jutted out like a beard. Wrapping its body was a skin-tight robe with sandals on its feet, thought the Stand did not have toes. It was a very clear representation of Indian stereotypes.
Chirag attempted to yelp out to his Stand to have it turn invisible once again, but gave up almost immediately. He knew it was useless. He had to shift his strategy. Chirag suddenly began to perform an array of foreign poses. His arms were gently waving like leaves in the wind and his back was twisting and turning gracefully. Invisible Touch began to do the same actions. It was Chirag's intention to have his Stand mimic his actions.
"INVISIBLE TOUCH," he blurted out like a trumpet. "HEAD-ON MODE: INDIAN RHINO KING COBRA DURGA RUSH!!!" the boy continued, shrieking. The poses and movement of Invisible Touch hastened, and it's body began to morph. Its head readjusted itself so that it lay perched out from the chest, and the Stand bent over slightly. Eight more arms sprouted from its body, and it charged at Greg. It was time Greg made another move. His instincts kicked in and he wrote, "My arms immediately turned extremely buff and fast" with no idea as to why. And, just like he wrote in his diary, his arms became extremely bulky and ready for action. Chirag's Stand began to fire all ten of its arms in a quick flurry attack, while shouting, "MOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIMOTIIIIIIIIII!!"
Greg countered by attempting to block all of his rush attacks with his own buff arms, with a battle cry of, "GUREGUREGUREGUREGUREGUREGUREGUREEEEE!!"
Rowley sat on a bench, observing the fight before him. The back of his head was bleeding immensely, and he still was not sure what he was seeing. Behind Greg was a hole in the wall, which seemed to have formed in no time, and out of thin air. A barrier of a cluster of ripples of air kept Greg and Chirag distanced. Around Greg, the floor began to disappear just like how the hole in the wall was formed. What was happening? Why was his best friend and another fellow student fighting?
Chirag and Greg: two sides of the same coin. Both have one common goal, and that goal is to get the attention and affection of Holly Hills. When boiled down and observed carefully, both of the combatants have short tempers and have rather selfish goals and means of achieving them. Greg's strong-willed, but it seems that the will of Chirag is even stronger. I may not know what a "Stand" is, but it seems that the two are taking their battle very seriously, and the victor seems to be getting clearer. I think it will be Chirag. Greg is struggling to keep his balance, and the floor around Greg is disappearing. He could fall through, or worse, start to disappear himself, Rowley analyzed to himself. Joshie's words rang in his head, saying, "Everybody wants to be right, but sometimes, it's okay to be wrong!"
While Rowley did not want to be right, he did know that being wrong would be ideal in this specific situation.
