"Katie?" Jameela asked staring at Josh's black car parked at the end of Ethan's packed driveway. I just shook my head at her, glancing down at Stacey's inebriated form being held up by the two of us. Now wasn't the time for Jameela's one-hundred-and one questions, now was the time to get Stacey home to bed.

After getting off the phone with Josh, Jameela had been easy enough to locate. She was downstairs in Ethan's rec room watching a couple freshman fail miserably at trying to compete with a pair of seniors at beer pong. If Josh wasn't on his way, I might've even stayed to watch a little more.

Stacey on the other hand was much harder to find, it'd taken a couple laps of the house with Jameela in tow before we found her. Stacey was slumped over on one of the couches, Jedidiah nowhere in sight. It angered me a little to see her so messed up with Jedidiah gone, it should've been his responsibility to ensure she was safe. Especially since according to Jameela he was the who'd been pouring drinks down her throat for the past half hour.

The two of us had managed to get her up off the couch and down Ethan's driveway without any hiccups, but I knew we were far from being out of the woods. I felt bad for Josh, not only did he have to drive my tipsy butt to Jameela's, but he now had a drunk Stacey to contend with too. Somehow, I didn't think he knew what was in store for him.

Josh and I made eye contact and upon seeing Stacey he hopped out of the car and met us on the passenger side. He opened the back door wordlessly and helped Jameela and I heft all one-hundred-and twenty pounds of Stacey into the backseat.

"Is she okay?" Josh asked, looking at Stacey's slumped over figure worriedly.

"She'll be fine," I said after a pause, watching as Jameela opened and closed her mouth wordlessly. Shocked was a weird look on Jameela, I'd never seen her unable to formulate a sentence before. "She just had too much to drink,"

"Good," Then Josh shook his head, "I mean well not good, but you know," He said waving his hand around as if that'd explain the situation. Bewildered Josh was admittedly cute, really cute in fact. It warmed my heart to see how much of good person he was, I mean being a good person shouldn't be as attractive as it was, but I was weak for Josh. Every little thing he did only deepened my feelings for him, and it was awful because I knew I could never have him. If I was a little older maybe, or the situation had been different we could've worked, but unfortunately for me it wasn't meant to be. I didn't put too much stock in the whole god's plan ideology, but in this situation, I had to. I had to trust that there was a reason why god had put all these obstacles in front of me, and when I overcame them, I'd have learnt something.

"Thanks for picking us up," I mumbled lamely, getting in the passenger seat as Jameela climbed in the back. It was weird being back in his car and my mind couldn't help but flash back to all the times he'd picked me up in the past week.

"No problem," Josh replied, shooting me a small grin. Selfishly I wished my friends weren't in the backseat so I could have Josh all to myself, but I knew that wasn't a good idea. It wasn't a good idea for many reasons, the main one being that I couldn't seem to lose my feelings for the guy.

"Katie?" Jameela uttered and as I turned around to look at her, she gave me a questioning look. I could understand her confusion and coming from someone on the outside it was probably super weird to be getting a ride from Josh of all people. I didn't feel like I could really explain anything to her nor did I want to, not in front of Josh at least.

"We're friends," I mumbled lamely. Josh nodded, pulling out onto the road looking at me in askance. "She lives on Maple and 22nd,"

"Thanks," He murmured, and I could see a smile pulling at the corner of his lips.
