Chapter 25 -

I remember telling myself that I won't disturb my mother about Michael's visit to me until I saw this note in my locker at school.

Little kitten, you didn't do as I told you. Don't make me find you and make you pay for your actions. I said tell her.

I really wanted to know who the hell he was, and why he was so interested in my mom knowing he existed. I'd rather tell my father about it, but he'd most likely call in the Calvary on my school, accusing them of lack of security and incompetence; both of which they are guilty of.

Something about this whole thing just doesn't seem right. If he really wanted my mother to know he existed, he would have gone straight to her; what if he wanted to let her know that he knew about my existence. That would make more sense, and it also seems more practicable. Because why would anyone want me?

I was unsettled throughout the day, I kept wondering if Michael might show up at my school like he did yesterday. I was worried and just a little scared. How can someone that disgusting be related to someone so charming and nice as Samuel? It must have been really hard growing up with someone that can call his own sibling a weakling.

I just had a lot on my plate, I had to worry about my upcoming exams and now this.

I had to see my mother about this and fast.

I was working on my Physics thesis when I smelt a familiar perfume, I looked at her with a frown and she seemed to mirror my expression. But before I could say anything she beat me to it by telling me.

"I'm sorry."

I was lost for words, I don't think I've ever heard her seem so sincere in my life.

"Kara,  what's this about?" I asked, I knew why she was apologizing but I was still surprised she was apologizing, and to me.

"I'm not going to lie to you and say I came on my own free will."

"It took a little convincing." I heard Lacey say behind me and I just shook my head.

"I'm busy today,  I don't have time for this." I said to both of them,  I needed to concentrate on this. I wasn't about to waste my time on this issue, I've even forgotten about it.

"I know that." Lacey said "That's why she will help you with your assignments for the rest of the term. Isn't that right Kara?" Lacey asked her with an expression that even I would be scared of.

"Yes,  that's right." She said with a sigh,  while Lacey giggled and left clearly happy about what she had just done.

"Kara" I said and she looked at me "I don't need you, I want to work on my own."

"So you're telling me that I got threatened by Lacey for nothing?" She asked.

"That's not how I'll put it,  but yes. You did get threatened for nothing."

"Oh,  just so you know,  I'm actually a little sorry."

"Just a little?" I asked.

"Just a little." She said.

"In that case,  you'll help me polish my locker. I need help with it." I said trying my best to imitate Lacey's expression, it didn't work.

"You're not scary,  but I'll still do it cause I'm scared of Lacey." Kara said.

"Why are you scared of Lacey?" I asked her.

"Have you ever seen her practice archery in the backyard?" She asked and I nodded.  "She always hits bulls-eye which is creepy and sometimes I think that she sees the target as me and the bull's-eye as my heart.  So explain why shouldn't I be scared of her, Daphne." She said.
