it was the night before christmas

we were in a backyard

his tan was shining on the pool light

he was the greatest statue i've ever watched

i told him about little monsters in my head

he said keep calm and sunny side up

but i couldn't say that i killed my sun

he wanted me to swear on god i will cheer up

i giggled and smiled up

but he never learned that i never cheered up after then

it was the noon after christmas

there was a loop on my neck and silence in my head

i never said i loved him back

and couldn't keep any of my words

oh no

he said keep calm and sunny side up

but i couldn't say that i killed my sun

he wanted me to swear on god i will cheer up

i giggled and smiled up

but he never learned that i never cheered up after then

it was the noon after christmas

there was dead silence in the hall

i never said i loved him back

and couldn't keep any of my words
