For everyone that was wondering (aka. no one), yes, I did finish my paper. Even though my teacher changed the due date so that it was due 11 hOURS THAN WHAT SHE ORIGINALLY TOLD US...okay, I'm done now. On a happier note, I don't think I've ever used procrastination time better than when I made the watercolor painting I'll leave at the end of the chapter for anyone who wants to see it.

Lastly, this chapter is unedited because I am in the car on a 7 hour trip so I can't use my computer to get a better look at everything. If I find that there are a lot of mistakes, I will come back, edit it, and repost it.

It was eerily still and silent when I stepped from behind Luther. Mum's trick of freezing time always freaked me out. It's so unnatural. Everything being frozen in one instant of time where nothing is moving and sound hasn't even reached your ears yet.

I feel his hand in mine before I hear or see him, "Come on, she's here somewhere." He looks around, his other hand in his pocket.

I nod my head, "Yeah, the problem is finding her." I look around and register the instant of time we are stuck in. Hazel and Cha-cha are being flung back by being hit by the ice cream truck, debris flung about. Klaus and Diego are stopped as well, Diego turning his head looking like he's in pain and Klaus looking like he's having an "oh shit" moment. Behind us, Luther is stretched out starfish style in front of what was supposed to be us, briefcase ever in hand. You know, he may be a pain in the ass but he's determined and he cares. And one bullet hangs mid-air, stopped in its travel toward the largest brother of the Hargreeves family.

"Neat trick, isn't it?" Five and I turn our heads to face my mother, just as young as she's always looked. Black cloak over a more than likely extravagant and beautiful outfit, briefcase in hand, and vibrant red lipstick on her lips.

"Hello, Mum," I say, walking towards her with Five's hand still in mine.

"Hello, hun," she lifts her veil and takes her sunglasses off. "Hello, Five. You look good, all things considered," she says pointing to us with her glasses. "And Ava darling, you look so young again! My darling little girl."

"It's good to see you again," Five says, kindly.

"Feels like we met just yesterday," Mum says, lightly. "Don't you remember going to get him, dear?"

I nod, "Yes, ma'am, I do."

"Course, you were a little bit older then. Both of you. Congratulations on the age regression, by the way. Very clever." Five looks over, smiling at the happy accident he cause. "Threw us all off the scent."

"Ah, well, I wish I could take credit. I just miscalculated the time dilation projections, and...well, you know. Here we are," he says throwing both of his hands out, taking mine with it then letting them drop. That was a little weird.

"You realize your efforts are futile. So what don't you," she says, tucking her hands and the briefcase behind her, "tell me what you really want?"

"I want you to put a stop to it," he replies, tucking his hands behind him, copying Mum. However, in the process I am dragged further toward him. That little shit. I tug my hand from behind his back, bringing his with me.

"You realize what you are asking for is next to impossible, even for me. What's meant to be, is meant to be. That's our raison d'être."

Five, with his free hand, reaches into his waistband and pulls out a pistol, aiming it at Mum. I don't even flinch. This was the plan. "Yeah? Well, how about survival as a raison?" Not gonna lie that was kinda hot.
