Lola throws her hair up into a messy bun as quickly as possible.
She scrubs her hands with soap and water and then dries them with paper towels.Lola opens a box of latex gloves. She slips them on and let's the material snap satisfyingly against her wrist.
She push the door to the lab open with her elbows.
Her safety goggles cover her eyes and her lab coat hangs low to her knees.
"Morning Jane," Lola smiles as she joins Jane's side at the metal operation table.
She looks down at the different chemicals they have and the different dead organisms in a jar.
"Today is animal recreation day one hundred," Jane sighs as she opens a jar of dead frogs.
"Don't give up. While find the right sample and we'll figure this out. Once one figure it out than the possibilities for clones are endless," Lola smiles excitedly.
Jane chuckles.
"I appreciate your enthusiasm," Jane grins.
Lola looks down at the frogs. There slimy bodies slightly decaying.
The preservatives only do so much to keep their bodies from rotting.Lola grabs one of the frogs and opens the drawer. She takes a scalpel out and makes a small incision on the stomach of the frog.
She opens up its body and gently pulls out the organs.
She sets them down neatly. She grabs a small syringe and injects the needle into one of the organs.
She sets the sample aside and repeats the process for each body part and organ.
When she has a sample of each she adds a chemical to them that enhances the reproduction of their cells.
She sets all of the viles down underneath and extremely hot light.
"Okay now that those are done, we will take notes on those over the next month and see if we get any growth. If we do then we can move onto the next step," Lola says.
"What's the next step?" Jane asks.
"The next step is applying the reproduced organism to the replicated flesh that we made," Lola says as she walks over to the capsule machine that she made.
The machine replicates all types of flesh and skin.
"Why are we doing this again?" Jane asks.
Lola sighs.
"For science," Lola grins as she pulls her contaminated gloves off and throws them into the trash.
She excites the room and enters a UV cleaning room.
She waits for the UV lights to eliminate the dangerous elements that were inside the lab.
When the machine gives her the green go light she steps out of it and places her lab coat and goggles into the sanitation bin.
She washes her hands and then walks down the stairs of the building.
The white polished walls are lined with trophies and certificates from successes the company has had with their scientists.
Lola can't wait for the day where she gets an award put up on the wall.
She can already image what it would say.
"Award to Lola Mad. The creation of the first clone. Career: Genetics and recreation."
Lola smiles at the thought.
When she gets to the bottom floor she walks up to the front desk.
"Good day Dr. Mad," one of the receptionist say.
"Good day," Lola smiles.
"I'm clocking out," Lola informs the lady.
"Alright I'll put that in the system, have a good afternoon," the receptionist says as she types away.
Lola walks out of the building and over to her car.
She opens the black doors to her corvette.
She sets her bag in the back and revs up the engine.
She speeds off down the road and onto the highway.
She rolls down the window and lets the wind blow through her hair.
She smiles to herself as she thinks about how close she is to recreating a living organism.
Lola pulls up to her two story modern house.
She parks in the garage and walks inside.
She frowns as she looks around at her house.
So big. So empty. She rubs her temples as she walks into her kitchen.
She doesn't understand why she can't get or keep a boyfriend.
Everyman she's ever been with has either used her for her money or cheated on her.
She sighs as she opens the fridge.
She's so tired of the dating game. She's given up hope on finding her soul mate, she's given up on people.
They're always so rude, so self absorbed, so uncaring and inconsiderate.Lola sits down on her couch with a dish of sushi in her hands.
Her eyes land on a picture of her standing next to Mick Thomson and Jim Root.
She smiles, they are such nice guys and she's gotten to meet them several times.
"If only," Lola sighs to herself as she looks at the picture of them.
She wishes she could be with one of them but Mick's married and Jim doesn't seem to be interesting in dating a fan.
Lola sighs as she turns on her big screen tv.
She wishes there was someone here to hold her or even to make the house less silent.
"I shouldn't have bought such a big house," Lola chuckles.
The only sound in the whole house is the tv and her thoughts.
Lola scrolls through a magazine on her coffee table.
She huffs as she sees the rock artists with there wives or husbands.
She throws the magazine back down and pulls her knees to her chest as she tries to get comfortable.
