I felt like my heart stopped. It did not just 'skip a beat'. It felt like everything froze, time, the people around us, my heart and even our movement. The only warmth I felt was his touch. Everything slowly registered when I saw his lips curling up to a small smirk. His eyes generating fondness and warmth. I laughed so hard due to my nervousness.
"You don't have to." I said between laughs.
"I know I don't but I want to." He said seriously but with a smile plastered on his face.
"Yeah but it's just a kiss at the strike of midnight. It won't mean anything. Why should you do that for me, or with me, or is it to me?" I said feeling a little nervous. Hence, me babbling.
"If it doesn't mean anything then why are you so nervous?" He chuckled.
"I'm not.."
"Sure you aren't." He paused as if to think about something. "It should mean something." I almost choked on my own saliva.
"Excuse me?"
"Last night, you didn't show up. It was my birthday." He pouted.
"I was tired Taehyung. You were celebrating with your brothers and ARMY." I felt my body stiffening. "Plus, I sent you a gift." I said defensively.
"You mean, a cake and a birthday card?" He said unamused.
"Hey, it is better than sending nothing." I protested. He shook his head in disbelief.
"May I cut in?" Jin asked politely.
"Oh sure." Taehyung said before pressing a gentle kiss on my cheek and whispered "See you at 11:59." I scoffed to hid my blushed cheeks since it felt like I was visibly turning into a tomato. He walked away after giving away my hand to his hyung.
"The girls told us about your little agreement." Jin said with both brows raised. He slid both his hands on my sides as I slid mine around his neck.
"I know it's stupid and I shouldn't do it but at that moment I just wa-.."
"It's not stupid. You'd finally get together. It's been hell of a boring and depressing k-drama watching you two avoid your feelings." Jin said bluntly. I was about to speak but he quickly resumed. "And don't make up excuses about Hoseok. You know that man wants you to be happy and you seem that way with Taehyung." He argued and I couldn't say anything.
"Jin please, it's already complicated." I pleaded. I just wanted everyone to stop pushing me into doing something I'm not quite comfortable with, yet.
"Okay, I'll stop. For now." He said before guiding me away from the dance floor. He took me in, wrapped me in his strong arms, I was basically consumed and lost in his warm embrace due to his wide shoulders. "You know I just want you to be happy right?" I nodded in his arms before pulling away. "Come, let me get you a drink." He said as he held my hand and walked us towards the mini bar.
After grabbing our drinks we were seated at the same table. I sat in between Jin and Joon, that's when Joon whispered to me. "So if I had asked you first, you would've said yes to the kiss?" He asked with a smirk.
"Kim Namjoon, are you flirting with me?" I asked amused.
"Girl, I gotta work my skills on someone before actually making a move on someone I have true feelings for." He smiled foolishly showing his dimples.
"I don't know if I should feel honored or offended." I shook my head in disbelief.
"In the right sense of sanity we would have been the perfect couple. You know?" He said confidently. I giggled.
