OUTER BANKS
episode 4: SPY GAMES
part 2

the day after the fight jj had not left ren's side and it was starting to annoy her,

"come on, j just give me a second!" she whined at him

"no! i'm not leaving you," he was latched around her while she was sat on a counter.

they were hanging out at heywards, and ren and jj were talking,

"how's your face?" ren asked him rubbing her thumb along his cheek,

"gnarly but i'm doing good, what about your neck?" he lifted up her chin and her neck was covered with red lines showing where rafe's hands were,

"hurts, i'll be ok," she smiled a little before they walked over to pope and kiara,

"don't let it get in your head bro, there's three of them and two of us, that's typical kook shit right there," jj said

"okay and what about me?" ren put her hands on her hips,

"your not fighting again, i'm sick of seeing you get hurt," she was about to answer when jj said something again but to pope,

"what was your thought process, using your head?" he asked him to which pope shrugged and answered,

"i don't know,man. i kind of just acted off instinct." he replied, "i was a cornered animal,"

"hey pope! someone here to see you," heyward said and in came no one but the police,

"the fuck?" ren whispered under her breath

"everting officer," pope said and the whole group could tell he was scared.

"i have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property," shoupe said,

"what?" heyward asked

but pope looked back at ren and jj, ren knew what jj was going to do,

"hands on the counter where i can see them," shoupe said

"your arresting him? for what?!" ren yelled walking up to them

"young lady out of my way." he said to her

"whoa, shoupe what'd he do?" heyward asked cluelessly

"look at the warrant," was all shoupe said starting to walk pope outside

"shoupe wait! come on!" ren tried to yell

"your arresting him?!" kiara yelled

"be careful!" she yelled again, jj on the other hand stayed silent.

"anything you say can and will be held against you," shoupe declared

"how much did they pay you man?" jj asked finally,

"shoupe! stop! come on man he didn't do anything!" ren tried to grab him but was instantly pushed into a chair by shoupe,

"bastard!" she yelled running after them outside.

ren had never seen pope like this before, he was scared and worried and she knew why, his scholarship, everything was chaos, jj started pushing and yelling, kiara was trying to get shoupe to listen, ren was yelling at shoupe, and heyward was worried for his boy.

"it wasn't him!" was all that could be heard by jj which made everybody turn around to see ren and jj staring at them,

"he's right! it wasn't him! it was us!" ren yelled after jj

"he tried to talk us out of it," jj said

"but we were mad cause he and me had just been beaten up," ren said

"and we was so so sick of those assholes from figure eight that we lost our shit!" jj yelled

"we can't let you take the blame for something we did, pope," jj said, "you've got too much to lose,"

"jj, ren what are you doing?" pope asked

"we're telling the truth! for once in our goddamn lives we are telling the truth," jj said

"hell, i took his old man's boat too," ren said

"what the hell?" heyward said to her but neither of them sent heyward a glimpse back.

"guys, come on!" pope started

"shut up pope! just shut up!" ren argued with him,

"he's a good kid. you know where we're from," jj said

"yeah," shoupe agreed

"all us," ren said

"that's the whole truth?" shoupe asked

"whole truth,"

"swear to god,"

"i know what you think damnit! i was asking pope," shoupe said

pope looked at jj, and then at ren who sent him a smile, and then mouthed 'do it'

"yeah, that about covers it," pope said but you could tell he obviously didn't want to say it.

shoupe uncuffed pope and cuffed ren and jj to a different pair and they got in the car.

"i love you," jj whispered

"i love you too," she whispered back,

and then they drove off to the police station.

once they arrived they were taken to different cells.

ren sat down on the bed and ran a hand through her hair. the only thing she could think about was jj.

but then her mind skipped to another thing, jj's dad. he was going to pick him up. and her dad was too but she cared more about jj than herself.

"fuck man," she whispered
