"I just don't know what to do with it" She's staring into the sunset with her knees pulled to her chest, eyes wet and unblinking. He's sat next to her, their shoulders nearly touching, heat radiating off of him.
"With what?" She let out a breath, sniffing as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"With all the love I have for him. I don't know where to... put it now." A knot formed in the boy's chest at her words. He knew she was talking about her dog and he knew exactly how she felt because he'd been feeling the same way. "I can't..." she wipes at her eyes, "nothing fits there." Her voice broke and Lucas sucked in a breath, turning to face her and pulling her into him.
