I can not remember if these two got together or not, but I remember loving them and rooting for them when I watched this with my cousin. In fact they were the whole reason I looked up from my DS and watched, then the horror kept my interest, but I mainly watched for these two. My cousin told me something about a twin brother in the manga or whatever, but again I didn't read the manga so I don't care about Gene or if he is actually the one who ends up with Mai.. Don't know.
