Always on my mind

Part 1 - I have to ask you a question

Zoe's POV:

I'm sitting on my bed, texting my absolute best friend in the entire world - Cody Simpson. I have known him my whole life and I can't even remember the first time I met him. No one knows me as well as he does and I know him better than anyone. I have no idea of where I'd be without Cody. He has always been here for me. 

"Hang out today?" 

Just seconds later he answers me.

"Sure!"

"Wanna go to the mall?"

"See you there!"

I quickly get up from my bed and goes to the closet. I have absolutely nothing to wear! And the thing is that I want to look perfect, because... I'm in love with Cody. I really like him and he's the only thing I can think about, but I haven't told him and I'm afraid about his reaction if I ever did. What if I can't even be friends with him anymore? What if he will just leave me? I can't risk that. 

As soon as I've picked out my outfit, not to cute but still not to ordinary, I'm heading towards the mall.

"Hey, Zoe!"

I turn around to see Cody coming out from a café with a coffee in his hand. 

"Hi!" I say as he comes closer. He gives me a friendly hug. He hugged me! We usually do hug when we meet, but I can still feel how I'm starting to blush and I really hope that Cody won't notice. 

"What do you want to do?" Cody asks.

I think for a little while and then I realize it! My sister's birthday is next week. She's turning seven and all she wishes for is a new doll with curly hair. 

"Let's go to the toys!"

Cody looks at me with a shocked face.

"Did you actually say 'toys' or is it just me?" He smiles silly at me.

"Not for me, you idiot!" I say and friendly punch him in the shoulder. 

"Whatever." He gives me a smile and once again I can feel how my cheeks are turning red. 

"No, my sister's turning seven and she really wants a special doll."

"Then let's go", Cody says and takes my hand to lead me to the store.

It takes a while to find the doll my sister wants and when we finally get out of the store Cody turns so his face is in front of mine.

"Zoe?" I can tell he's nervous by the way he keeps staring at the ground. What if he does like me? 

"Zoe, I have to ask you a question?"
