The rest of the school day had gone by quickly, and I was eager to get home.
I power walked out of the school gates, and down the street. I looked both ways before crossing the road, being careful of the tons of cars racing down the concrete dangerously.
When I turned the corner down the main road, I was met with burning gazes. Lexie, Kai, Chanyeol and the rest of the group were standing outside the Fish and Chip shop, all talking. I swallowed hard, slowly strolling past their group, trying not to cause too much attention.
But as I was walking past nervously, someone stuck their foot out, causing me to trip over. I didn't fall to the ground, but my little stumble was met by laughs. My cheeks grew hotter as I gingerly looked over my shoulder, continuing to walk a little faster.
I heard a voice behind me scold the person who tripped me over and footsteps quickly following me.
"Arabella!" The familiar voice called out. "Wait!"
I stopped abruptly and swirled around, Baekhyun jogging towards me, an awkward smile on his face.
"What?" I asked, a little annoyed. "Here to make fun out of me? Go ahead, I don't care. Nothing can get any worse than it already is."
"Don't be silly, I'm not here to bully you." His breath started to slow down as he stood in front of me. "I just came to say, I'm sorry about them. They were being stupid."
"W-Well," I stuttered, looking down and slowly turning away. "Thanks."
"Hey," He softly called, gently gripping my wrist and turning me back. "Let me walk you home."
I looked at him blankly.
"No," I spoke quietly. "Go back to your friends. Don't worry about me, I'm fine."
I turned back again, but Baekhyun still hung on to my wrist. He started to walk beside me, dropping his hand to his side.
"I insist." He chuckled, stuffing his hands in his pockets, looking at me.
"BAEKIEE~" Someone shouted behind us.
Baekhyun looked over his shoulder and waved his hand.
"I'LL SEE YOU GUYS TOMORROW!!" He shouted, soon turning back.
I just huffed and pulled my extra heavy bag on to my shoulders, wincing a little at the strap digging into my shoulder hard.
Suddenly, I felt the weight being lifted and the bag being taken off my shoulder. Baekhyun effortlessly hauled it onto his shoulder.
"Hey," I whined, trying to pull it off of him. "Don't, Baekhyun. It's really heavy and you have your own bag."
"I've got it." He chuckled, exhaling quickly.
"But-"
"I said, I've got it!" He laughed, looking over at me quickly, but soon fixing his eyes on the pavement ahead.
I decided to let him have it with a roll of my eyes.
----
"Thanks," I said shyly, standing outside my front door, taking my bag from Baekhyun, getting used tot he heaviness. "You really didn't have to."
"Well, I did," He smiled widely, running a hand through his soft hair. "Someone has to take care of you."
"I can take care of myself perfectly, thank you." I said in a defensive tone, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Yeah." Baekhyun said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
"Anyway, I have something to give to you." I turned away and opened the front door with my keys.
