The beginning (Mortal AU Valdangelo)

First date

Nico's POV

After dinner, I got a text from Hazel saying that Marie wanted me home. I sighed, "Sorry guys, Marie wants me back home. She probably can't stand being without me." Leo and Esperanza laughed, I smiled, I was happy they were happy again.

"Don't worry Nico," Esperanza said, "We understand, go before you get in trouble" I nodded and stood up, they stood up as well.

I headed to the door, waved at them and got out of the house, just as I was on the sidewalk to head home I heard a voice, "Nico wait!" I turned around and saw Leo running towards me, "Hey" I said

"Hi" he said breathlessly, "I forgot to give you this" he gave me a piece of paper, there were numbers there, a phone number I realized. He hugged me and said "Call me when you can" I hugged back and nodded, we stayed there hugging each other a little too long.

Esperanza cleared her throat, "Nico... I remember you have somewhere to be." I broke the hug, "Oh shoot, you're right! Gotta go" I kissed Leo's cheek, "See you at school tomorrow Lee-lee!" I said blushing and running to my house, not noticing Leo's blush.

Why did I kiss his cheek? Now he's gonna think I'm weird. I thought when I arrived at my house and entered my room. Am I that desperate for Leo? Maybe I am, I mean sure, he's cute, with his curly brown hair, and beautiful warm chocolate eyes and his perfect smile and his funny and kind personality and how adorable he looks with those suspenders and he's so warm and comforting- wait. What's going on with me?

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. I do not like Leo Valdez. I'm sure that I will never ever be in love with Leo Valdez

(Two weeks later)

I'm in love with Leo Valdez.

It's just impossible not to love him! Just look at him! Ugh! So perfect, I don't know what he sees in me. I'm in my room, deciding what to wear on my first date with Leo, yup. I'm having a date with the Leo Valdez, I bet Susy_Valdez21 is so happy and screaming about how cute we are. Ok I'll stop breaking the fourth wall.

I was in the hallway heading to my house when I heard, "Hey Nico!" I turned around and smiled, there was my best friend and secret crush, Leo. "Hey Leo, what's up?" I said.

He started playing with his hands, I remember that gesture, he did it when I first talk to him, he was nervous, "W-Well um, I wanted to a-ask you s-something" he stuttered.

"Aw is my Lee-lee nervous?" I teased him, he started blushing, "N-No" he looked straight into my eyes, still blushing but there was determination in his eyes, "Nico Di Angelo, will you go on a date with me?"

I was shocked, I wanted to say yes but I couldn't find the words, my crush liked me back? What the heck? This only happens in stories!

Leo must take the silence as a no because his face turned heartbroken then with fake happiness, he faked a smile, "I was just kidding, I got you Neeks! Haha!" He even fake a laugh, it sounded so real he ain't fooling me, I see the look in his eyes is pure sadness. "I'm gonna get some books..." he said and turned to head to the bathroom.

"Leo stop!" I screamed and ran to him, he turned back, his mask was falling, he wasn't smiling now. "Were you serious about what you said?"

"Of course not! I was just kidding!" He tried to laugh but failed, I gave him a look which clearly said: 'If you keep faking with me I'll kill you' and immediately he went with his sad, real expression. "Yeah.... yeah I was serious..." he said looking at his hands.

I took his hands making him look at me, "Yes" I said. His eyes lit up and a smile started forming, "Really?" He asked hopefully, I nodded and smiled, "Really."

Now he was really smiling that beautiful smile of his, "I'll pick you up at 7" and started running, "See you tonight!" He yelled.

So now I'm waiting for Leo, I was wearing the same clothes I was wearing when I finally saw Leo again, skinny black jeans with black tennis, a black shirt with a skull in the middle and my aviator jacket.

I heard the ring bell and immediately headed to the front door and opened it. There was Leo, turns out he has the same idea as me, wearing the same clothes he wore when he saw me after 5 years, he was grabbing a red flower. He smiled at me and kneeled giving me the rose, "For you my love" I chuckled taking the rose, "Hello to you too Leo"

He offered me his arm, "Shall well?" He said with that handsome smirk on his face, I smiled and linked our arms together, "We shall" I said.

We walked for like 15 minutes, talking about random stuff, "Ah, we're here" Leo said.

I looked around, and saw a park, "We're having our date in a park?" I asked. "Oh no Neeks, this isn't just any park, what do you see there?" He pontes me where there are swings, kids playing in them. I realized now, "This is the park where we met.." I said, feeling very happy that he decided this place for our date. Leo nodded, "Come! I wanna show you something! I just hope nothing happened to it." He murmured the last part.

We walked around the park, hands intertwined, when he stopped, "Leo? What is it?" I asked worried. He smiled at me, "Nothing to worry about Neeks, here is what I wanted to show you, look."

I gasped, there was a picnic, with pasta, panzenella, and bruschetta. (I hope I wrote the last two correctly) I smiled, he brought italian food. It was my mom's and sister's favorite food.

I turn around to look at Leo and him already looking at me smiling softly, "Do you like it?" He asked, I got tears in my eyes and nodded quickly. I ran to hug him, my arms around his neck "Thank you" I whispered. He hugged me back by the wait, "Is the best I could do when you let me cry the other day right?" I shook my head, "This is more than a I could asked for,"

He hugged me tighter then broke the hug, "Let's eat before some else does," I laughed, "Yeah let's eat."

(Hours later)

After we ate, which was delicious btw, we started chatting. Then I felt Leo nudge me, I looked at him, "What?" I asked. He made a motion to his left, I looked and saw two kids. One was sitting in the same swing also when I met him, alone, just like Leo, and the other one was heading his way, nervously playing with his hands. He wants to be friends with him.

"I hope does two get a wonderful friendship, like us, maybe even more." Leo said, looking at me, a knowing smile on his face. I smiled back, "Yeah, I hope so too"

"C'mon, time to go home." He said and offered me a hand, I took it and stood up.

(After they got back to Nico's house)

"Thanks for walking with me to my house, Lee-lee" I said, standing in the front of the house. "It was no biggie, I wouldn't want a beautiful boy walking by himself, would I?" He said, smiling.

I giggled, "Sure, thanks for the date, I really liked it". I placed my face on his cheek, "I'll just say it, before you leave."

"And what's that Neeks?" He asked, placing his hand on my cheek. I leaned in his face, "I'm in love with you, Leo Valdez" and kissed him.

I won't lie, that kiss was amazing, I felt him deepening the kiss. Sparks flew, but sadly people need oxygen to live, I broke the kiss and smiled at him.

"See you at school" I said, and gave him one last peck on the lips. "Y-Yeah, see you tomorrow" he answered. I entered the house and heard Leo shouted "Wooo!!! Yes!!!" I laughed to myself, oh that boy. I love him though.

I went to sleep, my last thought 'I can't believe I have a boyfriend' and fell asleep.
