Camila and her boyfriend of nine years, Zachary, just got a new neighbor: an athletic, tall, documentary-loving musician. Camila doesn't trust her new neighbor, but when she finds herself in a sticky situation she may find that she doesn't have much...
"You have pretty hands," he said as he held his now wife's small and delicate hand in his as they waited to board the plane. He brushed his thumb over each of her slender fingers, including the one decorated with her wedding ring, before squeezing her hand in his.
"Thanks, you've got nice hands too," she giggled. Camila had convinced him that they should spend their honeymoon in Cuba - more specifically, Havana. She always told him stories and showed him pictures from when she lived there but he had never been, so she had promised that they would go there together someday so he could experience the culture to it's fullest extent. Of course, it didn't actually take much convincing. As soon as Camila pitched the idea Shawn was more than excited to finally visit the city that he had heard so many wonderful things about.
"Do you think your parents will be okay with Quinn?" Camila asked.
"I mean, they took care of me and I think I turned out pretty well," Shawn replied with a shrug. His parents would be staying at their apartment while they were gone to take care of Quinn and although Camila was a little hesitant at first to leave Quinn alone with them, deep down she knew that they'd be just fine.
"You don't think they'll like...snoop around or anything...do you?" Camila asked. Shawn looked at her and cocked an eyebrow.
"I don't think so...why? What are you worried about them finding?"
"Are you forgetting that you went on a little bit of an x-rated shopping spree for our anniversary? I mean I don't know why they'd need to go looking through our dresser drawers but what if-"
"Camila," he cut her off. "It's our honeymoon. You really think I didn't bring those things with me? They're in the suitcase." Camila's mouth fell agape in surprise for a moment before she shook her head and chuckled.
"I should've known."
Though they hadn't put all of the goodies he had purchased to use on the night of their anniversary, they had since done plenty of exploring with the various items and Camila definitely wasn't opposed to using them more often, so hearing that he had packed them truly wasn't all that surprising - and even excited her more than she'd like to admit.
The flight from Miami to Havana was a little less than an hour and as soon as they landed and made their way into the city Shawn was blown away by the sights.

Wanting to stay as close to the culture as possible, they opted to stay in an Airbnb in Old Havana rather than an actual hotel. They were both starving by the time they got settled and finished unpacking their things so Camila led them to one of her favorite restaurants in the colorful city: Bar de Luca. He let Camila order food for him, trusting that she'd know what he'd enjoy. He also couldn't deny that he loved hearing her speak in Spanish, even if it was just her asking their waiter for more fried plantains.
"I love how much you love your culture," he commented as they waited for their food. "It makes me happy to see you so in your element."
"I love that you love it," she sighed happily. "Not everyone is as accepting of cultures that are different than what they're used to as you are."
They finished their meal and Shawn managed to convince Camila to take a shot of tequila with him. She hadn't drank much since having Quinn but she couldn't deny that she had missed letting loose every now and then. They both downed the shot and chased it with a quick kiss, giggling as they pulled away from each other. Truthfully, they didn't need the alcohol. They already felt love drunk. "Bendita Tu Luz" by Maná started playing throughout the bar and Camila's eyes instantly lit up.
"Oh my god, you have to dance with me!" Shawn's cheeks turned pink as she dragged him out into the empty floor and wrapped her arms around his neck, his hands falling to her hips as they swayed together to the music. Camila stood up on her tiptoes as she danced with him, quietly singing the words to him.
"Bendita Dios por encontrarnos en el camino, y de quitarme esta soledad de mi destino. Bendita la luz, bendita la luz de tu mirada..."
"I don't know what any of these words mean but honestly you could sing a Crazy Frog song and I'd think it was the most beautiful song I'd ever heard so I don't know that it matters if I don't understand it," Shawn quietly chuckled.
"It's a beautiful song," she told him. "It always reminds me of you."
"Keep singing. I wanna hear more." Camila laid her head against his chest and continued singing the song.
"Gloria divina de esta suerte, del buen tino...y de encontrarte justo ahí en medio del camino. Gloria al cielo de encontrarte ahora, llevarte mi soledad y coincidir en mi destino, en el mismo destino..."
They danced together and shared sweet kisses until they realized they'd be better off back in their Airbnb where they could have some privacy. They undressed each other slowly and explored every inch of each other until they lost track of time whilst tangled between sheets. He held her close after they had finished, relishing in the feeling of holding his true love so close to him. Even after she had fallen asleep in his arms he kept his eyes trained on her, his heart beating just a little bit faster when her lips would curve up into a small smile as she slept with her skin pressed against his. Recalling the memory of her singing to him earlier in the night, he grabbed his phone from the nightstand and looked up the title to the song which she had conveniently added to his Spotify for him since had had enjoyed the sweet melody so much. After some digging, he was able to find an English translation of the lyrics. He felt butterflies erupt in his stomach and chest as he read through the beautiful words that she had sung to him. Knowing such stunning words could remind someone of him made him feel undeserving of such a love...but he also felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for that very love. A love that he would do anything to protect and anything to hold on to forever.
A/N: that song is on her "mi gigante" playlist and YES i'm emo about it
