Character introduction

"Aaaaand DONE"

I finish all of my homework with not 2 minutes to spare until I have to go over to my new neighbors house and babysit. To most, this may sound like nothing and its not as though I hate kids its just their family is strange. If it were up to me I would NOT be going over there anytime soon, buuut my mother just had to go over there and make friends with them. When she mentioned to them that she had a teenager who loves children it was only a matter of time until they decided that they wanted me to come over to watch their little angels. Ive only had one interaction with their children but I WOULD NOT call them angles I think witch would be a better-suited word like Ive said the Gaunts are a weird family.

I grab my phone, a charger, and my air pods (yeah we rich or smt) along with a hoodie, (favorite harry potter book) and head over to their house. Once Im outside Im about to knock on the door when I see inside the house something that looks like its floating oh welp none of my business. WAITJNGKELDNRFLK THERE WAS SOMETHING FLOATING AJHHDBSKELJE. I decide to just take some deep breaths and knock, I mean what the worst thing that can happen right? I keep my ears open for any confirmation that I saw what I really saw, but no one says anything just a bunch of shuffling sounds before the door opens.

"Ahh you must be y/n welcome," Mrs. Gaunt says smiling, but its not a genuine smile its an I'm hiding something and I really hope you didnt just see but if you did then your dead smile.

"Oh darling is the neighbor boy here," Mr. Gaunt says though it was harder to understand him due to him having a thicker British accent." Ahh ello, y/n right?"

"U-uhhhh" I just stare at him for around 30seconds before I realize that I have yet to answer his question. "O-oh yeah m-y name is y-y/n." What the fuck is wrong with me I have never had a studdering issue one in my life. It must have something to do with the weird levitation thing I saw along with the death smile and the overall creepy vibe I get from the family and this house. I guess they caught me staring at all their weird artifacts because they started looking nervous.

"Oh you like these, they are images that are commonly found in the mug- the u-uhhhh the homes of everyone back in London." Mrs. Gaunt stated sound too confident in the beginning then wayyy too nervous at the end. What is going on here? OMG, WHAT IFF THEY ARE PART OF THE MAFFIA AND THEY HAVE DEAD BODYS HIDDEN AND THEIR GOING TO KILL EM NOW THAT I KNOW SOMETHING.

"Oh um what my wife means is that they are a common part of the culture of where we used to live, and might look a bit funny here in this modern American home," he said while seeming to be looking down and judging if I believe him. I HAVE TO FUCKIGN CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON BUT I THINK HE'S HOLDING SOMETHING BEHIND HIS BACK OMG OMG OMG ITS A GUN RIGHT???? IM GOING TO DIE AND I WASTED MY WHOLE LIFE BEING A FANBOY I DIDNT EVEN DO ANYTHING WITH MY LIFE.

I take a deep breath because if I even look the slighted bit out of place or suspicious they could kill me with a pull of a trigger. Breath y/n just breath. All I have to do is make it out of here alive, and the best way to do that is to not seem surprises...breath."Ah yes, that would make sense seeing as this is a place that normally does not have very many British agriculture I was simply taking a look so as to not forget, I deeply apologize if it caused you or your wife any sort of discomfort."Ahhh shit I got really nervous again and I did that thing that I do when I get really super nervous and I talk like a really smart brat, ugg now they might hate me and kill me.

"ah yes, of course, well our number is on the fridge and the children are in the kitchen eating dinner, feel free to help yourself to anything youd like. We best be going now goodbye"and with that, they were out the door, although this did raise my suspicion more, because usually when I babysit the kids are at least introduced to me so they know who I am, and they dont think I broke in. And the help yourself to anything youd like sounded more like a dont go anywhere except where you should or we will know. There was a reason I didnt want to come here.

I head over to the area of which I presume to be the kitchen/ dining area and see two children, obviously twins around the age of 11, one girl who was glaring at her food, and a boy who looked incredibly nervous for some reason. Since they have yet to notice my presence i decided i should probably say something before they think Im creepy.

"Im your neighbor and for time being I will be babysitting you" I say in my happy yet non-color voice as possible though it didnt seem to matter as their heads have yet to even twitch let alone town to face me. At least I know what type of children they are. This is going to be a long night, just as long as I dont end up dead.

" how old are you guys?"They appeared to be completely ignoring me."What about the school, where do you guys go, I heard it mention you go to a privet school?"Ok well, this is not going well at all. I take a seat and the Boy just looks like he wants to speak but doesnt know if hes allowed to. Its kinda sad, he reminds me of a kicked puppy.

"W-ell u-umm you p-probably w-want to kn-now our n-n-now out names correct?"The boy stated while looking at his sister the entire time almost as if to make sure he was saying everything he was allowed to.

" if that the case them my name is Maria, and my twin over there is Maximus (f that ur name then changes his name to something else lol) as for our age we are 11, and for the school, we attend as of the middle fo this year we transferred over to Illvamorny. As for you you seem somewhat uncomfortable I am only to assume it has to do with one of the few things, 1 being you saw a levitating object though the window, 2 my mothers incopmatace in statements when you were looking at the artists found around the house, and finally when my father had his hand behind his back acting cautiously as if he had something he was ready to pull if u made one wrong step, did I miss anything." Oh my fucking god. This kid is the biggest know -it all that I have ever met and this conforms that I did see everything that I thought and it was not my wild imagination and- WAAAAIIITTTT did she just say they go to Illvormony as in Illvormony School of Witch Craft and Wizardry?!?!??!?!? Just keep cool I dont know what up with this girl but she seems to be able to read people like a book. plus there had to have been some real place that the school was based off on right???

"Oh um no but h- w- t- ?"ok wow this 11yr old just made us sound like a complete moron great.

"Oh right of course you wouldnt know but then again you wont need to as I will inform father once they return and you forget all of this."

Alright, this conclusion may seem illogical but, I dont think their part of the mafia, probably, from the information I have gathered the conclusion that would make sense is wizardry, like Harry Potter is real, like Voldemort was real, all of everything with everyone forms the books happed? Or is it something that a squib wrote about a make-believe time at Hogwarts in the disappointment of not being able to attend? Ah, I dont know but what if when the use of the memory erasing charm it gets rid of my entire knowledge of Harry Potter!

"Dont fret we should just enjoy tonight, I say board game then bed hmm?" the bratty girl then stated it rather than making it a question.

"W-w-well um we arent supposed to s-stay u-up m-mother specifically s-stated that w-we are t-to go to bed as soon as we finish eating." The boy then cleared his plate and waited for his sister to do the same, reluctantly she followed.

"And before you ask, we do not need a tucking in so good night." she stated while walking upstairs.

This is such a strange night. I take a seat on the couch and take my book out leaving everything else in the bag. ( idk i i said he put them in a backpack but yeah lol)

I hear the front door start to open right as I finish the last chapter of the book, yep I finished the whole book in a few hours I never thought that was even possible.
