More Than An Assistant (Unedited)

Chapter 2

Alexa

I and Clara wouldn't want to get along with each other. In fact, we boarded different bus while coming to the office this morning.
Although we stay in same office but I'm good at maintaining my distance especially moments like this.

Soon, customers started walking in, heading to different offices for meetings, appointment etc.

A young man walked into our office
" Uh... This is the customer care right? " he asked drawing our attention to him.
"Yea.. " I and Clara answered at the same time.

I hissed turning to my monitor. Clara glanced at me letting a mild smile tugged her lips, she stood to greet the man.
"Good morning sir, how may I help you? "

"Yea, Mrs. Claudia will like to see miss Alexa Luis" The man said.
I raised my head to look at him, quite stun.

He arched an eyebrow
"oh! " I nodded "you're her assistant" I recall "Yea, I've introduced myself like a thousand times to you starting from when I worked with Mrs. Rita former manager of the Information Department"

The man pointed out in a slight fustrated voice. I raised my eyebrow standing up.
"Guess you needed to make it more formal" Clara taunted derisively shaking her head.
"let's go" I eyed her

My mind race tro and fro, I can't actually get an idea as to why the new manager wanted to see me. She was signed in yesterday and now she wanted to see me of all people in this enormous company.

Well, I have to worry as I barely knew the former manager of CAD department even though I had worked here for over five years now.

Reason was that she doesn't converse with us even if she wanted to pass a message it was always through her assistant.

As we reached the door, I had said a little prayer silently, committing my work in God's able hands and then the assistant knocks before opening the door. We walked in.

"Good morning Mrs. Claudia" I greet bowing my head in obeisance.
"Good morning miss Alexa Luis" she glanced me head to toes, I gazed at her uncomfortably.

Her assistance walked out.

"You work in what department Please?" she asked looking up at me and closing a file she was reading when we entered.
"Customer's care.... Office... Line.. " I replied nervously, biting my lips.
Damn it!

"Okay. Here. Take this files you and your colleagues should sort it out, it's our customers compliment about the company. Check it and get back to me" she said in a more classic business tone.

"Yes Mrs Claudia... moron" A little laughter escaped my lips as my tongue lingered to pronounce 'moron' I quickly turned to leave.

" Wait, what amuses you miss Alexa Luis?" Mrs Claudia asked shocking me.
"I... I'm sorry, it's a...  Cough" I lied clearing my throat.
"oh"
Her eyebrow pinched together.

"Then you should get a medicine for it instead of sharing the virus, it's not a good thing you know? " she asked and I felt embarrassed.

I simply nodded and quickly walked out hurrying to my office.

Clara stared at me certainly stunned, I was happy before I left this office so why the sudden change of mood?
